I am on the verge of upgrading. I want the Yoshimura exhaust system but was wondering if there is any difference in their head pipe as compared to the stock raptor head pipe. In other words are the aftermarket head pipes worth the extra ~$150. I heard that alot of the aftermerket pipes are the same diameter as the stock,

Any Response is Thanked.

I have the full Yosh pipe, and love it. It is a little bigger than stock(in diameter), and another plus is that(cosmetically) it is stainless and wont't rust or corrode like the stock. Keep in mind though I believe that the numbers in the magazines on pipe tests may not be exactly what you get. (depends on alot of factors). It also accepts your stock heat guards.

I had (and still do) the same questions.Do a search using the word yosh or yoshi, some good info there. The yosh header pipe is a larger dim. than stock.I'm kinda leaning toward the full sys. with the TEC option.I wish the yosh web site had dyno graphs for various combos.

I've got the full pro race titanium yoshi, and i love it. The head pipe is quite a bit larger than stock and looks sweet. It is a very expensive piece though, more than most people want to spend on an exhaust Mine has the oval silencer and no spark arrestor or TEC, I believe the tri-oval is available with that stuff though.

Also the bend on the aftermarket headpipes is much smoother, not as sharp right angles as the stock unit which should aid in evacuation of exhaust.

i also have a YOSHI full system with stainless heapipe and titanium silencer..yes it is much larger and i love it but watch out when you install its a very tight fit..i snapped one of the studs for the muffler that goes into the head..had to drop the engine and tap the cyclinder and helicoil it..what a pain in the B*alls all for a $1.85 stud

.what is TEC system?

From what I've been told and seen from very informative sources on this forum is that unless you have internal motor mods that you will not see much if any performance gain by using a larger diameter headpipe. If your just going for looks or plan on doing internal mods and got the money may as well get it. Again that's just what I've been told so I personally don't have any facts to back that up.

Can you buy the silencer first and the head pipe later at the same price or is it cheaper as a combo deal?

I don't think the slip on will fit with the header, almost possitive of that. The TEC is TUNABLE END CAP i think you get three different end caps of various dim. (smalluieter more low end power)(bigger:noisier more top end power).
