I mounted the soleniod under the front black plastic on the right side of the
body plastic. Could only get three bolts in but it's not going anywhere. I cut
all the cables to length and ended up with two spare cables. I then mounted
the remote connector in the left front headlight bezel, it fit prefect. I also
wired in a toggle switch that is mounted just in front of the shifter. By
putting in the toggle switch you don't have to dig out the remote every time
you need to use the winch. Sorry no pics have bought digital camera yet.

I originally had my solenoid mounted under the seat. Winch on the front and switch on the body plastic. I jumped my solenoid wire to the fuse for the 12v socket, since I didn’t like the idea of splicing my ignition switch. Worked well until I tried to use the winch when the quad was in water up to the seat. It shorted out the switch and my cables.
So, now that I have to re-run everything I am moving everything.. This is what I am doing now. Takes a LOT more time to install, but I think its better.
#1) Solenoid – Mounted under the black plastic nose piece, you have to take off the front rack. Nice big box that is a little more water proof, since its also has an air intake right next to it. I will also add a foam seal around the edge of the box to add a little more water proofing. I now can use my storage box for storage.
#2) Switch – THROW out the Warn switch! It offers no protection from the weather and water. My contacts were all rusted. So I now have a heavy duty 3-position momentary toggle from Radio Shack. Handles 20AMPs and grab the rubber protection boot for it. This is mounted in the black nose piece, right next to the Speedo.
#3) Separate power switch – I also picked up a lighted push button switch that will go between the fuse and the solenoid (Now the Solenoid isn’t energized all the time). This is mounted right in front of the other switch.
#4) Winch – I plan am mounting this up higher. The “factory” mounting point is terrible. Always in the muck or water. I took mine apart and was very surprised how much muck was in there. So I am going to try to mount it on the front rack or high on front bash bars. This will require some extra metal, since the rack will probably rip off.
#5) Coat all the contacts – I went to the local hardware store and picked up some “liquid electrical tape” and will coat all the contacts to prevent rust and help resist shorting out.
I will post some pictures this weekend. Check back!

I mounted the solenoid under the Hood of the bike. I have the sixfoot remote that mounts to the handle bar (left). The plug for the remote is mounted on the LCD pod on the left side. I use the winch alot and have had no problems "yet". lol
The bike has been up to the handle bars in muck and water and winch always seems to work! thank god
