Hello everyone. I was just at Bull Gap yesterday and I couldnt have been more happy with the banshee I just bought. This is my first quad and I beat EVERYONE at the hill except people running alcohol or nitro(I was so proud of myself). I took it off the trailer last night and crusied around my friends house. We went into some trails behind his house and it was mostly slow 1st or 2nd gear trails. We got back and I was going to give my friends brother a ride on it, but I noticed it was a little hard to get into neutral. But I didnt think anything of it. So I went down the road and went to shift into 2nd and I COULDNT. I cannot shift into any other gears and it is stuck in 1st. The gear doesnt slip, its just stuck in it. I cannot budge the shifter out of 1st. I wasnt going to try to hard b/c I didnt want to strip out the splined shaft that the shifter connects to. I took the right side case off and drained the oil and the coolant. I didnt notice any metal chunks or anything of that sort in the oil. The only thing I know at this point is that it wont shift into any other gears and its stuck in 1st. I really need some one to help me with this. The last time I drained the oil, a pin fell out. This pin was the one connected to the 6 point star shaped shifter thing that has the 7 pins in it. This pin wasnt one of the pins on the outside, but the pin on the inside of the star that helped keep it on the shaft. But the man that I bought it from (whos very expierenced) said that the shaft that the star is on is elongated, so he saw no reason for the pin and said it wouldnt hurt to not have it. The weird thing is the quad worked very well yesterday and it shifted perfect all day except that night. I have never heard of this happening, but I really hope some one who is expierenced can help me. I didnt notice anything out of line when I took the case off, but what do I know.

Thank you to anyone who trys to help!!

NICK

Hey Nick. Good luck on the Shee, here's something with mine too..

I was riding mine around my house one day, 2nd or 3rd gear, when the tranny locked up just like yours. Its stuck in 2nd, but will shift to 3rd, and no other gear. I took my shifting mech out, and the problem is not the shifting star(for me at least). I'm thinking a shift fork has either broken, or came out of the drum. I haven't yet torn into the cases, but I am anxious to see. Make sure you give feedback on your fix! Hope it works for you.

Hmm.. That sounds like it could be the problem. I will have to look into my Clymer manual and see exactly what the shift fork is. Thanks though. Do you know how much this part will cost if it is broken?
