A few Banshee questions
#1
Sorry that these are such basic questions, but I figured that you guys would have some good experienced answers to help me out.
1. What mix are most guys running in their Banshees? I am just going to be playing in the sand, nothing racey, just having fun.
2. My bike is being shipped with no fluids, what would you guys recommend for coolant and for transmission oil?
3. Even though the bike has a new chain, I am considering getting the case saver to avoid a cracked case, any suggestions as to the necessity of this?
4. Currently the bike has the stock thumb throttle, any opinions from you guys on running a twist over a thumb throttle, or vice versa?
Thanks in advance for the information.
Can't wait to take it for a spin!!

I used to run mine at 32:1 which is pretty much standard I think, but that was a little rich for me so I run 40:1 now. Use 80w Transmission oil. I personally hate TWIST cuz i always go straight up and I can never let go of the throttle, I like thumb better...Good LUck!

I just got my banshee also, but I will answer what I think I can.
32:1 is a good safe ratio.
I have heard gear saver is a good trans fluid, I think it is a belray product, but could be wrong.
dont know on the case saver, but would like too also.
I prefer thumb, same reason as above.
Just wait until you want to start modding it, the questions become more and more and the wallet gets lighter and lighter.

I was thinking of sticking with the thumb throttle for the same reasons that Own2424 mentioned. Do you find it difficult to get off of the throttle if you've been taken by surprise with a good bit of acceleration?
Any recommendations on coolant?
Thanks,
Dean

No I haven't had any trouble with it.
And my hand don't get tired after riding all day.
I did not think i was going to like it but after running my banshee with twist i don't like driving one without, but that is just me.

Spectro SX (NOT golden spectro) at 32:1 (one bottle to 4 gallons of gas).
Belray's Gear Saver is the only tranny fluid to use.
I hate twist throttles on atvs!
As for coolant. My dealer has been trying to get me to try Engine Ice. Last night I drained my 50/50 water/coolant mix and poured in the Engine Ice. The difference is amazing. I am guessing at least a 30 degree decrease in water temp. My banshee would get hot and stop running right when ******* it up hills on trails through the woods. Now it stays cool. This stuff is the ****. After an hour of riding, I could lay my hand on the radiator without burning myself (just had to try it).

I just picked up some Golden Spectro on the recommendation of the previous owner, is the SX the full synthetic? I also noticed the Redline full synthetic and almost got it, but figured it would be best to stick with what the previous owner ran.
I think that I am going to get some of the Engine Ice, after some reading on it last night, it definately sounds like the stuff to use. Did you flush your system with De-Ionized water? How many containers of Engine Ice did you need to fill your bike?
Thanks,
Dean
