make maps of ATV trails from GPS info ???

I use a Garmin E-Trex legend GPS unit and map routes while riding. I then download this info to my laptop via their Mapsource software. I would like to try it with their Topo database vs the Streets database I have. These I can then print etc... I do not however know if they are to scale. I'll give a look see once I get home.
