FMF Exhaust?
#1
I have an '02 Speed with the "toaster" and I was gonna get the HMF pipe but I've heard it's REALLY LOUD! I liked the sound and the performance of a Blaze I rode so I called the dealer and told him to get me the FMF pipe thats on the Blaze. He called me back later and said he did some checking and the only place he could get it was from Cannondale and it was $1000!!!!
Is my dealer on crack or is that pipe really that much? I've been checking the FMF website and it's not listed but I haven't called anyone else yet.
I think what I really want to do is keep it quiet and try to get a little more power. If I have the Blaze map put on with the stock exhaust will it help or hurt?

$1,000!!!! Thats CRAZZZZZZZZZZY!
The HMF is LOUD.Its great for the MX tracks but not neighbor friendly.I dont crank my bike up past 9pm at night. Its to loud.
The FMF is alittle more quite but not by much.I would never pay $1000 dolars for a FMF though.
I would like to see what Trinity has to offer.

I am curious to hear about how loud the Trinity is. Can't wait til they finally release it!
I was looking on the FMF site and saw the "Q" silencer thats supposed to be quieter than most. I'm in California and they are gonna start enforcing sound levels in the National Forests so I want to keep it legal. I know the HMF will be too loud and I think the FMF on the Blaze/Moto might be pushing it. Does anyone have any experience with the "Q" on anything? The site doesn't list anything for the Cdale yet but I'm sure it will be out eventually.
250r, is the FMF with the connector pipe available to replace the "toaster"? Everything I've seen needed to replace the headpipe too. Who is RM_ATV?

Not sure if they have a connector pipe to adapt into the "toaster". However, if you are looking to stay quiet yet still have a fairly decent pipe, you might consider keeping the toaster.
Or - check into the 17" version of the FMF pipe, supposed to be more quiet than the 14" version that the Moto/Blaze use.
RM_ATV = rockymountain atv

So would it be worth trying the Blaze map with the stock exhaust? What would the downside be? If it will give me more power than a stock Speed but maybe not as much as an actual Blaze I may try it. I'm just a little worried about it being too violent for the muffler and blowing it apart.

Yes, you can install the Blaze map with the stock pipe.
The biggest difference is you will notice that the throttle repsonse is toned down a bit - other than that, it's small timing and fueling changes.
The Blaze map has toned down throttle response so the quad will be easier to ride in the woods.
The Blaze and Moto maps also leans back fuel in a lot of places, which is good, because the stock Speed/Cannibal maps are rich. It shouldn't cause problems with the pipe unless it isn't well made enough to take the heat from an engine that's closer to proper tune.
Shoot me an email if you would like more details on the actual differences in the maps.

Have you guys checked out rockymountainatv for the FMF head pipe and silencer? They sell 2 silencers, one for $179 and the quieter one for $269 plus they also sell a "connector pipe" for $67. I can't really tell if this connector pipe is the header pipe but what else would it be??
