HIGH ALTITUDE ADJUSTMENTS FOR 650
#1
I LIVE IN TEXAS WHERE ITS IS 700 FEET ELEVATION AND PLANNING ON A HUNTING TRIP TO COLORADO. THE AREA WE WILL BE HUNTING IS 9000 FEET. WAS WONDERING IF IT WOULD BE WORTH THE MONEY TO RE JET THE CARB AND ADJUST THE TRANSMISION AS THE OWNERS MANUAL SUGGEST. HAS ANYONE TAKEN THEIR 650 UP TO HIGH ALLTITUDE WITH OUT MAKING THESE CHANGES AND IF SO DID YOU NOTICE ANY MAJOR CHANGES. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

TxPR:
I answered a similar post a few months back. I live at 4500 ft., so all my riding starts from there on up to 9000+. I bought my 650 from a dealer in Fresno, CA. and have left the stock jetting in. Calif. units are set up lean to begin with to comply with the strict Calif. emission controls(bunch a BS). My plugs have been a little dark, but not black and it has never blubbered or run lousy whenever I've been near 9000 ft. I just put the Diamond G snorkel on my unit and will take it out tomorrow and see how it works.
As for your going to Colorado, like I told the other guys, if you don't want to screw with your jetting, wait till you get there and see how it runs. Bring your tools and jets with you and if it does load up and run lousy, make the necessary changes. As for clutching, all I have done is change to the black spring in the secondary. Have a good trip.
