I know that this has been discussed many times, but I am puzzled why everyone is so down on the Maier plastic. I have seen many pictures of bikes with it, and also have seen the product pictures and I think it looks pretty good. I haven't seen any up close though.

Is everyone down on it because it is dull and the expectation is to get shiny plastic?

My plastic is hammered on my 87, and I've been thinking of getting the Maier because of the price, and the fact that it will look better than the dingy stock white plastic currently on the bike.

I was looking at getting the black Maier plastic, but noticed a post or two that said NOT to get Maier plastic, ESPECIALLY the black. Is that because it fades quickly?

Sorry for all of the questions, just trying to make an informed decision.

Thanks,
Dean

P.S. - I noticed that UFO makes some black plastic that is affordable, would this be any better?

vdubn..maier recently released shiny plastic. My friend has black shiny maier plastic on his banshee..and it looks great. Fitment could be a little better, but when it's all said and done..it looks good. And if you're on a budget...go for it. My friend hasn't had any problems out of it.

I have heard a lot of good things about Maier's new shiny plastic. If I was buying plastic now I would look into it, along with fullbore. Fullbore is nice but expensive. I think Maier finally answered their critics and addressed the shortcomings on their products.

So, at Rocky Mountain, they have Black, Red, and White Maier fenders and they also have Blue and Purple, the Blue and Purple say Dull, so am I safe in assuming that the ones that don't state "Dull" are the shiny ones?

Thanks,
Dean

Here is the picture they show for Black rear fenders, it may be a generic picture, just curious if you guys know if this is the shiny stuff.

That sure looks like the old "dull" plastic. I have recently put the new shiny plastic on my 400EX, and it seems to hold up nicely so far.

If you want a good deal on Maier plastic, give Marcum's ATV a call. They can be reached @ 1-877-264-3409.

You can also see some pics of mine at my site below.

Very nice looking bike! I'll call them and Rocky Mountain tomorrow and see what they are selling.
