Raptor Steering Adjustments
#1
How do you correctly set toe on a Raptor? It sounds like a dumb question but for som reason when I do it I never get it to look right. I am changing the $46 tie rod end, I am in the wrong bus., again for the LAST time. I just wanted to know how to properly do it.

The easy way to do it is with a lazer level.
Since I doubt you have one, the other way is to make sure your set your quad square to a wall in your garage or something.
step2: tie your handle bars straight ,make sure they are straight.
step3: measure the front and rear of each front tire off the wall making sure the measurements are the same.
step3: now set your tow by turning the tie rods in so you have about 1/8" tow in on each wheel. This will be 1/4" total.
You do this by measuring off the wall to the front and back of the rim at the same height and the front should measure 1/8" longer than the back of the rim.
The real trick is to make sure the bike is square with the wall and the handle bars are straight.
You should even have someone with the same weight as you sitting on the bike when you do the measuring.
Just a side note you paid way to much for your tie rod ends.
you can get Ricky Stator ends for about 25.00 each.

What I do is,
Make sure the handle bars are straight,
Get a tape measure & line up the lugs on the front tires,
Measure the front & rear of the tires & figure what your toe is,
Adjust both tie rods the same amount (ie: 1/8th turn on both instead of 1/4 turn on one)
Measure tire again & adjust as necassary.
Make sure you always use the same place on the tire to measure.
When you test ride it if your handle bars seem cocked but the toe is correct, figure out which way the bars are cocked & take some out of one tie rod & put some in to the other till the bars are straight.
Measure the toe again to be sure.
I use the same method on my quad & race car & it works well.

Thanks for the help guys. I wish I would hve known about the Ricky tie rods sooner. Its not really a problem, I just paid for it with the gold brick I laid when she told me $46 a peice. I won't buy them again I am going to do something else.
