Widening out my ride?
#2
A guy on this forum hooked me up REALLLY good and got me some stock Honda wheels for a little over $17 at my door! So I flipped those around and I'm about to buy some wheel spacers for the rear. I also have 18" Turf Tamers and they helped my cornering a LOT!!!! If you have the money, go for some lonestar (just a suggestion) a-arms and axle, but if you can't afford it, spacers and flipped wheels are a nice easy way to widen your ride.
P.S. Before you guys tell me that I should buy a-arms and a axle, try to remember that not all of us can pull a hand full of cash out of our asses. A-arms, shocks (which would be needed w/ a-arms), and a axle costs to much for me right now.

I have plus two American Star a arms, and RPM axle, it made a world of difference. Cornering is much better, and it adds stablity around sweepers and landing jumps. I just looked around and found the best deals that suited my needs and i found them. Most of the time you can get products cheaper throught the company that makes them, rather than a middle person, like R and S, but i have orderd parts from rs that wee the same as manufactures.

That sucks if they lost your a arms, did RS give u a tracking number so you can see where it actually is, they should have. I hope you like your set up as much as i do when u have it fully installed. next i think im going to get the ohlins suspension upgrade, so they are up to 19" w/ resevoirs.

<< I didn't know that is where some people kept there money. Live and learn. >>
LOL! Yeah, I guess thats just one of those Texas sayings . I said that because EVERY time I say I flipped some honda wheels around for width, I hear, "Dude, you need to buy a-arms. You'll bend your stockers w/ the offset wheels." What does it matter if I bend my a-arms? I might as well do this and not spend a lot of money and if I bend my a-arms, I'll end up buying some aftermarket. Either way I would pretty muchly be spending the same amount of money. Doing it my way gives me the chance of not having to spend the money.

come on guys, you buy a super high tech $7000+ quad and then you jerry-rig the front buy using spacers and offset wheels. I could understand this on a 300ex but on a dale, please.
In addition to screwing with the front end geometery and steering you also will probablty have the front shocks way off. The main problem being the fact that now the front spindles have more leverage on the tire side making for erratic steering, decreed bearing life and possible spindle failure.
Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks this is wrong. If you could afford a dale you could afford the parts to do it right.

It's more like, if I could afford the parts to do it right, I would. Lets see here... I make $6 an hour. I have $208 payments everymonth. I spend about $40 a month on gas, and about $240 a month on racing and practicing. So in a month, my total spending is about $480 a month. I only get to work about 80 hours a month (80 x 6 = $480), so most of the time, I'm either barely making it, or I have to ask my parents for a little gas money. Do you honestly think buying a $6500 quad means that we're rich? I bought the quad because that's what I really want... at the same time, paying for this quad is what keeps me from being able to afford the "right parts."

I wouldn't normally say anything here, but....
I think that the idea that because I bought a $7200 quad means that I have a large disposable income is false. I bought my Speed because I had been looking at quads for awhile. And then I found out that the guy I work for, his brother is a mechanic at a Cannondale dealership. And they have a Speed for a pretty good price.
So, I apply for my loan, and about a week later, I have my quad. Now, I have this wonderful quad sitting in my garage that gets ridden every weekend, and sometimes during the week. Does that make me rich? No, that means that I planned this purchase out.
I don't think it is wrong for people to go looking for inexpensive ways to upgrade their ride. If he decides to get a set of wheels and flip them around, then that is his choice. It's his toy, and when it breaks, he has to pay to get it fixed.
The only reason that I say this is because I had been doing some of the same things, and I don't want to stop the creative thoughts that people have because somebody doesn't agree with them.
I am not trying to say that you don't have a right to your opinion, but please do not solicite flames from other people to support your opinion. His opinion is his, and yours is yours. And if you have to agreee to disagree, then that is fine.
