I am not trying to rustle any feathers, just trying to get the facts. I have been reading about the Sparks 690 machine that was on 110 octane gas, with stock weight etc etc that ran like a bat out of hell. It was said that it put 12-15 lengths on a Trinity 686 Kit. If this is true (and many have said it was) why? How can the sparks kit provide such a bigger increase in power over the Trinity. They were running a 10.75:1 piston too. If anyone has any insight on this please let me know. Off Subject a little bit...I called Sparks and they estimate their machine had 70+- hp. As everyone is familiar the 686 is suppossed to have 63+- Thats nice. Anyway, I called LRD and they told me no way in the world a Raptor with those mods could have more than around 55hp and that anyone who told me different was not telling the truth. Any insight on this is appreciated as well. One more sidenote I was e Once again, I am not flaming any company, just trying to make informed decisions on my raptor mods.

Thanks alot,
Mike

I agree with you of the LRD of 55 hp that is on rear wheel horse power. That the same infor I got from them when we had Dunefest a few week ago. What LRD told me that Trinity and Spark of what they are claiming of the hp is on crank horse power. I tend agree with LRD what they mention to me.

Later on of next yr, I am planning to go with LRD and they are good engine builder. Also I have the pipe set up and it made a world of different after I yank out WB E-serie pipes. It really woke up the bike up.

Yah, I am familiar with rwhp and crank horsepower as I build and occasionally race mustangs ( and a pretty old vette Anyway, if LRD was quoting RWHP and the other two were quoting crank horsepower, then it would make sense, but I was under the impression they were quoting RWHP, but I have absolutely no verification on this.

The other thing I'm sure they didn't mention is the fuel additive. The people that where at FSW claimed some funny smells comming from there camp.

That would explain the big differance in performance.

If you want the full story do a search on Poweroll and read those 200+ post all the players are there.

I'm curious about this fuel additive. What exactly does this mean. Does this mean they had a little blue bottle tucked somewhere or do you literally mean something your pour and mix in with your gas like you would do with octane booster for a car?

Lyle did not use Nitro-methane. That's a crock of $hit. He won last years 4-stoke wars, so what! Lets just concentrate on what's to come next year.

Well in any event I just wonder why the sparks machine is so much faster ( assuming no nitromethane was used) Oh yah, whats the difference between nitro methane and nitrous oxide?

IMO the biggest diffrence was the port work & probably the cam.
Head work is a black art more than science. Sparks probably found a trick in the head that no one else did.

But as velocityraptor said that was last year this year is a whole diffrent story.
There has been a lot of $$$$$ thrown at quads since then & it's a whole new ball game.

But Every one should watch out for TUNED X 2!!!

It is not rocket science. Trinity built a all around durable quad, the sparks was higer comp, more cam, fcr's, hot fuel, built for dragging. Harry will build that verison if you ask.

From what the guys at Trinity told me and the what the reports say, it was a lower comp. (10.75:1) vs a higher 11:1 piston for Trinity. I was also under the impression that the Trinity had FCR's, did it not?
