My neighbor and I both just bought FX400's and love them. The problem is on my neighbors. It is leaking oil on the floor out of the breather. I haven't been over to see it yet but thought I would ask yo guys if you have experienced this.
Thanks,
Jason

It could be too full of oil. That has been known to cause that problem.

The bad news is my buddy's cannibal was leaking oil out the breather, but wasn't overfull. His motor blew about 10 hours after he noticed it. The engine had 20 hours on it MAX when it blew.

I think someone else on here got a free motor because of this after his dealer checked it out.

Just my thoughts

He has only had it for 3 weeks. Got it used from R&S. It was Kyle's quad so I am sure he will know what the problem is but can't talk to him until Monday.

His dad told me it was still showing oil on the dipstick so it might have been overfilled. I told him to clean it up and blow the tubes out and keep an eye on it if he rides it any before he talked to Kyle.

Is it the Transmission vent tube that exits the crankcase cover on the left side of the engine? If it is your transmission may be over-filled.

4strokeman is right the only breather tube that goes right to the air is the tranny. The engine breather ends up in the air filter.

Stopped by neighbors hose but they weren't home. Checked on quad and it is the hose going to the airbox. Will update you when I know further.
Thanks,
Jason

Talked to Kyle and he said, other than being overfilled, that it could need a redesigned vent hose they came out with since he rides it on the road a lot. He has only seen one other quad do it.

Pretty nice having him so close. He really does know his Cannondales!

jay mine did that, took it to the dealer and two weeks later had a new engine and new ecm1000 and hydraulic clutch, all courtesy of C-dale and for free, but mine WAS under warantee, and yours is not, but Ill bet kyle could hook you up with something, they have good relations with cannondale

Went over and talked to Kyle after work and he showed me the updated vent hose kit. Said he had more on the way. Looked like an easy enough kit to install. Just don't know if it is going to do it again or not. So good so far.

Going in there is like walking into a candy store! There is something new every time.

On an Fx400 i would bet it will happen again if run at redline/high speed down the road for very long. Get the kit. I think i'll be doing the same.
