Stop at the dealer to talk to him about the new Gas Gas 300 Quad. He just got back from the dealers meeting over the weekend. If anyone was at the Badlands sunday they might have seen the new quad, since the dealers were test riding the machine there. Here's what he told me:

First the quad is schedule for release the first or second week of October.

They change the dura-blue axle out for a stronger one since they had problems twisting the dura-blue (has anyone ever heard of this problem on another quad? I heard of them break do to jumping, but not from twisting in half do to too much power.)

Juan, the guy in that is in charge of the testing and inproving the gas gas products, told the dealer that the quad has been tested in races all over the world for the past year.

Juan also said that Dirtwheels has been bugging them to get a test ride on the machine, but he knows how they work and is refusing to let them ride the machine, because if Gas Gas doesn't pay them dirtwheels will pick the quad apart.

The machine will have to models a 52" wide and a 48" version.

450 4-stroke fuel injected quad that is schedule to release early next year.

I have a couple picture with specs on the machine but don't know where I can post them so if someone can tell me how or where I'll do it or if you want them e-mail to you pm me.

I don't see how there is any possible way to twist and ATV axle. No matter how hard I holeshot my banshee I will either spin or if I hook, I will stand straight up. Both of these take the torque off of the axle. The only twisting I have heard of in relation to an axle is on the durablue X-33. The bolt in the pin drive hubs has been known to shear off if it isn't kept tight. This happens in a hard turn with extreme side loads, usually coupled with sudden hard acceleration.

What are the two versions (52 and 48&quot designed for? I am guessing the 52" is for desert only? 50" is as wide as is allowed in TT and I believe it is the same for MX racing.

I am impressed with what I see from Gas Gas bikes. I will definetly check one out when they come on the market. I guess since Yamaha is pulling from the 2-stoke market, Gas Gas is going to try to fill the void.

The twisting the axle thing is what Juan told the dealers. I don't know the details and have not seen one twist either that's why I was asking about it.

As for the widths of the machine the 52" was geared towards motocross (remember this is a European quad so the reason for the 52" width is maybe their rules allow it. Plus It maybe adjustable)

The 48" is for woods and trail riding.
The only difference that I know of between the 2 is the width.

Hey LT, what's going on. Did you go to the GasGas homepage and check out the press releases? They have a picture of one of the Mclaren F1 drivers (Kimi Raikonen?) powersliding the 300 on a trail. Can you imagine C-Dale getting Little E or Jeff Gordon to do some PR for them, that would be sweet!

I saw that. He even had special black plastic for the machine. Looks like fun doesn't. Can't wait to get mind. It would be nice to see someone Like that from Nascar. I would pick Jimmy Johnson though, since he started his racing career on a Honda Pilot.

I may be wrong here, since i don't deal with GasGas, buty I thought that the engine that they copied from Yamaha [YZF] was a 400cc instead of a 450cc?????

It also only has a 4 valve head instead of the 5 valve like the Yamaha. Also the valves aren't titanium like the Yamaha.

I read a test of this engine in a dirtbike with the fuel injection setup and heard nothing but good things about it. Sounds like a winner to me.

it is amazing what reverse engineering and a couple years can do... for some reason, though, I was under the impression that Gas Gas had designed their own 400cc and 250cc four-stroke engines???

Gas Gas was going to go with a 400cc 4-stroke, but opted to design a new 450cc 4-stroke instead. The 450 will also be in the 2003 bikes. I have no clue on copying Yamaha's engine.

Here are some websites that I've been checking on the new info of the quad.

Gas Gas website Gas Gas
MotoMerlin Website Merlin
Infomotores, this is the one CBUS660R was talking about F1.info
Quadtreros They did a review on the quad quadtreros
Jas they have a couple pics on the machine Jas.es

I saw in their website that they have one dealer in Canada (Nova Sotia). I hope this guy will sell the quads. Do you know what is the price of the 300 2 stroke ?
