300EX weak rear brakes
#2
Have you bled the rear brake? air trapped in the line will give a weak, spongey feeling brake pedal. A bad line will ballon in a weak spot, and take all the pressure away from the caliper. I can lock the rear on my son's 300ex with a toe tap,so yours must have a problem some where. Did you check the level in the resivoir? it is right by the pipe on the right side,I have heard of heat damage on some, maybe the pipe got something too hot,and it is leaking.Just a few things to look at.

I know you probly don't want to go this route but it's woth me suggesting it. Why not spend $40 and get a steel braided brake line for the rear? When you use the brakes front or rear the rubber lines expand and you lose some fluid pressure. I'm going to the steel lines this winter when I completely go through my quad again. That's just me though.
