just got my new KING QUAD..!!!
#1
Well I finally got my king quad 300. Bought it with 1 mile on it...now I have 105 miles in a few days of really fun trail riding. Im so far impressed with how it can climb and go over obstacles. For out and out speed its a bit lacking, but its heavy for sure. I have not been able to get it stuck....and ive tried for sure. When it stops going I switch to 4WD....that almost always keeps it going...once in mud though had to use the DIFF LOCK. This thing really kicks *** !!
Now for my questions:
1: What kinda top speed can this machine do broken in...just wondering??
2: Has anyone lifted one using either larger tires or suspension mods??
3: Does the optional cooling fan make much of a difference..cause I tend to use mine almost as a tractor a lot of times....??
4: Can these machines be HURT...????....LOL...trust me ive tried...!!

I have a 1999 with 2450 miles on it. Its in the shop now though. The only thing that will hurt it is jumping it. My rear wheele bearings are shot. I have gotten mine up to 60 mph. It takes a lot of time though. You might want a fan. I overheated mine tilling my garden. What type of work do you plan on doing? If you have any more questions I can help you.

well....so far have used mine to pull felled trees (fairly small) blaze trails over trees and up rough steep hills and over all kinds of brush and jaggers. I also plan on towing trailers with dirt, rocks etc. I tried some jumping....seems to land hard...too heavy. Not like jumping a sport quad at all. my trail blazing is for my son and his friends to ride their dirt bikes through. even my neighbors with sport quads are interested in the trails now that ive cleared 5 years of growth off them. I do a LOT of steep hill climbing (4WD super low stuff) Ive got a ton of power line and gas line right of ways near where I live and most range from fairly steep to deadly...lol. Im mainly interested in the cooling fan to extend the engine life and for rider comfort from the heat (if it would make a difference). What tires to you run on yours??....The standard DUNLOPS I have seem good overall, but I sense I will grow disapointed over time with them...mostly in the winter and spring mud seasons. For rocks and hard pack they seem good. Just worried about the deep mud we get in the woods here after winter.

You would have to have 125 mph tail winds and be going down a steep hill to get a King Quad up to 60 mph. Expect 52 mph TOPS and that's push'n it...and it would have to be under ideal conditions ie. hard packed level surface, frozen lake with very little snow etc. I know...I own one. Great machine... you can bet on that.

now that mine is broken in ive been on the gas a lot more lately. Ive seen 45-50 mph several times, but I think it could go maybe 5-6 mph more.....if only I had maybe 400 more feet of straightaways.....Yeah I guess it could go maybe 60 under ideal conditions wound out in 5th gear, but id be to scared to go that fast....seems to be to twitchy at fast speeds. I prefer running it mostly in the 15-35 MPH range mostly. Ive jumped mine a few times after I realized the way to get it to "fly" properly. Stand on footpegs with butt over back of seat and arms extended as far as you can......it will take off on big humps on the trails where I live...makes everyone laugh. Noone thinks it can even lift off the ground but it will, and it lands fairly smooth also. Not that im in a habit of doing that!!....Most impressive thing ive done so far...my buddys 2WD sport quad got stuck on a steep loose rock hill and he didnt wanna risk going down backwards....I went to help him with it. we used a tow strap and the KING pulled in front of him and in 4WD super low 3rd gear with diff lock on just pulled his machine up the hill with almost NO EFFORT whatsoever. All my buddies coulnt even believe the king would get up the hill at all, let alone pulls another quad behind it. Now they dont make fun of how slow it is anymore.....they are all respectful of its slow speed power now. Before i get any flames, let me say I did have a 35lb weight on the front bumper on the king hanging under it, duct taped on to keep the KING form lifting its front. I get to scared when that short wheelbase starts to nose up...!!

All you need to go that fast is a good mile or so of level road. Plus I only weigh 140 lbs. and the engine is screaming.

Ive had my KQ up to 85mph at this point!!!! Well does it count if it was on my trailer???? Sorry had to throw that one in. Well anyways ive moved up to the 650 now and i still own the ole KQ but shes only used to plow the drive in the winter time. Anyways thought you might like to see this web site for the KQ: http://www.angelfire.com/tx4/kingquad/ . It has some mods that i have either done myself or came up myself. A couple of thinks that are WEAK points of the quad is the brearings and brakes. Get used to fixing these problems. Other then that its a great machine. I have a set of Vamps on it and it will go places in 2wd that i cant go in 4wd on my 650. Anyways good luck......Rob
