Several weeks ago, my 13 year old son started talking about wanting a quad. I pretty much blew him off, thinking it was another one of his latest of many wants. He kept this up for several weeks untill he finally convinced his mother and I that we should at least go to our local dealer and "just look". We agreed to go and look, but ended up bringing home a 2002 blaster, I thought the kid was going to go into melt down when I told the dealer we would take it. We got his new toy home, and the rest of the afternoon he spent the day tearing up our well groomed yard. Now I went through the same thing at his age, go-carts, mini bikes and a dirt bike, so I thought I knew what to expect, but then I decided to take his blaster for a spin I was really suprised, shocked, bitten? A friend of ours has about 30 acres that his sole purpose for buying the ground was for riding quads, so I thought it would be more fun to take my son out there and ride. After our first days ride and the hours worth of talking about our day, my wife suggest that maybe I should get one too? (poor woman) I now have a black and red 2003 raptor setting beside my son's blaster. So far we have added Douglas wheels and a set of Treckers and a Toomey B-1 to my son's blaster and once my Raptor is broke in who knows. Now I have a sudden urge to own a Banshee. Does this ever end? Is this normal? I realize this is long, and I appoligize for that, but the lesson to learn here is if there are any dad's out there that want to spend some extra quality time with your kids, this is the way to do it in my book. Just need to make your wife think it was her idea. If there is a cure I may want to wait a while longer before I begin my treatment. Anybody else care to share a similar account?

man, dont i know how you feel!!! lol! the biggest problem with this is, THERE IS NO CURE!!! you might try a labotimy, but even that cant replace the urge, kind of like sex! once you've done it, you need to do it more and more, lol. might i sudjest buying a 4x4 quad, any of the big 3, and introducing your wife to it. my wife said she would never do it. i then put her on my grizzly, and showed her how easy( being automatic and all) and sent her down the road. now we have a 30 ft camper, a new truck to haul it, and are looking for a cabin in northern michigan. she has her eye on any automatic to drive, lol. she does hint to me how she really likes mine though( dreaming of sitting waiting for her to return, lol) this is no dought the best way for ALL age groups to sit and play!!! the campfire afterwards are always filled with the stories of the days events. my sons, 3 of them, want to go camping with us. they want to hang with the ol' man. and i know where my kids are!!!!

That is a common, but unfortunatly UNCUREABLE disease.

You will always have the urge to get something new no matter what you already own.

I am a quadaholic too, or actually I should say an "anythingwithamotorholic". However, even though there isn't a cure there is a treatment. It's a non-prescription treatment called "girlfriendhurtsmewhenispendmoneycilin&quo t;.

All my friends call me whipped, but if it wasn't for her I would be in dept up to my ears and I'd have more vehicles that I could drive. We now have enough cash to start building our house next year and I have to say that I owe it all to her.

Anyway, enough about me...As for your urges for a new quad. If you can resist not buying the Banshee for a while, you'll probably change your mind and want something else. And if you did give in and buy a Banshee you will still find yourself wanted something else later on. It won't ever end. What you need to do is think long and hard and try to decide if the banshee is an "I want because I don't have" or an "I want because I need to fill a gap that the Raptor can't" case.

From my point of view you've already got a nice quad, and if I had a Raptor I'd probably have no need for a Banshee. Unless you are unhappy with some specific parts of your Raptor you probably won't get anything more out of a Banshee.

The Banshee has a great engine for flat out screaming, and 2-strokes are nice for that as well. However, it lacks low end torque and the suspension isn't up to par with the newer sport quads.

Anyway, I could go on forever rambling. If you have any specific questions don't hesitate to ask.

A friend of mine let me ride his 250R in the dunes at Little Sahara, That was all she wrote!!
I now have a 2002 Raptor with almost 10K in it!!
I drag race at Atoka, OK every month (another track is opening next year so that's twice a month)
I go to Little Sahara at least once a month.
I'm getting ready to order an enclosed trailer to haul it & camp in, That means I'm gonna need a bigger truck, ETC, ETC!!

The only thing more powerful than a quad addiction is a sand quad addiction, I'm hooked for life!!

It's also very contagious!! My brother in law is getting a Raptor for himself & A Shee for my nephew!!
Man is my sister pi$$ed!!!!! hehehehehe!!

The motorized addiction is the best addiction out there. I don't have kids yet but when I do I, I will try my hardest to get them addicted to quads. It's a great way to keep an eye on them and know what they are doing.
I was at an Ames Department store the other day and these three kids in their early teenage years were in there causing trouble and acting like little punks. Some kids just can't find anything to do but cause trouble and get into drugs and alcohol. When I was 14 I spent all my free time playing sports or riding three wheelers. If I got in trouble or didn't keep my grades up I couldn't play or ride.
I'm only 25 but man it's crazy how times change.

It's really starting to become an epidemic. This disease is VERY contagious (sp?). If one of my friends gives me a ride up to one of my races, the next day, that person is always lookin for a quad or dirtbike. Just look at how popular quad racing is getting all of a sudden. Every time you hear a new race report from a Nationals race, you hear about that tracks record turnout. Every year, the tracks are getting a record number of people showing up to race and watch... the only "cure" is those darn tree huggers. They may be able to hold us back a little, but they'll NEVER get rid of us.

Yep, I've been there, done that. I saved for a year for my quad, and my dad never looked twice at it. Then we went for a ride, and he didn't have anything to ride on, so he borrowed a friend's fourwheeler. The next day we were searching for a quad for him. We now ride together almost every weekend, and he reads all my DirtWheels magazines before I even see them!

I know your Pain , I started back into Quads a couple years ago , just to haul camping gear and Deer out in the fall . Well one thing lead to another , I traded in my utility quad on a Lakota Sport , then took my wife riding on a freinds honda 4x4 , she now has a 400 big bear , then my nine year old started riding my Lakota with the throttle barely opened , well she now has a mini raptor 80 , You see the Progression of the disease . I plan on trading the Raptor 80 off in about a year ( if we can wait ) on a Warrior or Raptor for me as the Daughter really likes the Lakota Sport . We are even into the Racing scene somewhat doing ATV Rodeos together . Sure its a disease but its not bad to have , enjoy the togetherness of it with your son , Stay young at heart and your son will be more than your son he will remain your best freind .
