clutch removal

i have a 250x and i need to remove the clutch to replace the timing chain. i broke the pressure plate trying to loosen the center nut. any great ideas as how to hold the clutch still while loosening the nut? is the nut left hand or right hand.

Try putting it in 5th gear and have someone hold the brakes, it worked for me. My Recon was counterclockwise to remove.
