Well lately we've been swamped by the big bore war. The reason I went back to the 500cc class was of gas consumption, My traxter is getting 123 miles per tank where my grizzly was only getting 75, I hear the SP 700 Twin is the worst on fuel. The problem with guys like me I go on really long trips without gas stations, so I have to bring extras gas with me. With the Traxter XT I only have to bring a 3 gallon tank with me on weekend trip where alot of the big bores would have to bring 5 + gallons.

How many miles do you get per tank and what do you guys ride.

2002 Traxter XT

Miles per tank whats that???? How about tanks per mile. I get about 70-80 in the prairie depending on the thumb factor.

My '02 P-650 got 65-80 to the tank, depending on conditions and RH thumb application.

I get between 80 and 120 miles per tank. My tank is 5.25 gallons which does help on long trips.

The Prairie gets about 100mi. at best, but as quick as it is you can coast another 20.

Eiger 4x4 5-speed = 25 to 30 mpg = 110 safe miles, maybe as much as 120-125 on reserve with a 4 gallon tank.

Prairie 650 =15 mpg = 65 - 75 on a 4.5 gallon tank.

Honda TRX 90 = We've had it for three years and driven it about 1,000 miles. I don't recall ever having to put fuel in it - I don't think it burns any. (I suspect it gets over 40 mpg.)

Xplorer gets from 15 to 30 MPG (about 18 to 20 for trail riding)

Fourtrax gets from 20 to 35 MPG (about 20 to 25 for normal trail riding)

The Xplorer gets as good of mileage at 40-45 MPH, maybe even better. The engine just purrs along while the Fourtrax is revved out. In anything other than that, the 4 cycle engine just is easier on fuel.

For slow, technical riding (not over 10MPH) I would guess the fourtrax gets close to double

Just rented a rancher while on vacation at the Pauite trial system and these machines were gettin at least 120 miles pre tank. I say at least 120 cause we was never able to run out of gass on these quads. Now on the other hand on my 650 im looking for gas around 60 - 65 miles....Rob

I run 100-120 miles on 4 gallons or a little less. That is all mountain trails, but not riding real hard.
