Utility Quads fuel mileage
#13
I get around 100km (66miles) per tank on the Kaw 650, depending on where and who's driving (me or my evil twin). The gas really starts to disappear once I get over 85kph(50mph).
Yam8, I can see your point with the long trips. It's sucks having to drag gas cans with you, although I wouldn't trade an ounce of "big bore" fun for better mileage.

Here`s the results of gas mileage from our recent trip to WNF.
97 Foreman 400................68 mi.....2.5 gal?
98 Scrambler 500...............49.........4.0?
02 Sportsman 500.............56..........5.0?
02 Sportsman 700.............44..........5.0?
The mileage is when each machine hit reserve according to odometer on the Honda. The riding was slow, technical, hilly and muddy with lots of playin in the deep mud.
Not very impressive for any of them I think but we got 6 to 7 hrs of riding before the Polaris`s needed fueling.

A down fall for the Rubicon. They only have a 3.6 gallon tank including the one gallon reserve. So at 20 mgh, a happy average, thats only 70 miles on a tank full. Usually run the main tank out between 50 and 55 miles and have a gallon left. If we don't take gas, we head back when we hit about 40 miles from the staring point.
The SP 500s in our group go the same distance on a tank of gas that we do. They switch over to their reserve about the same time, but they use more fuel to go the same distance. Our Rancher gets better mileage, it does about 100 miles per tank, 3.4 gallons including reserve.
