I'm talking about the late '03 models. I know the Speed will come with the Ohlins, Tag bars, different tires and a 1000 RPM higher rev limit--is there anything else?? I'm trying to decide which way to go in terms of Dales. Even with the Speed I'm looking at replacing the shocks and axle anyway so I want to make sure there's no major differences between the two other than what I listed. Because with the same frame and powerplant I can buy a Cannibal for at least $1000 cheaper and buy the same mods I'd have to buy for a Speed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Guy

thats about all that is different. if you are gonna replace all them parts anyway i would go with the cannibal. your dealer should be able to hook you up with the moto front end for about $ 1500.thats a-arms, shocks brake lines, tie rods. ball joints, everything but the steering stabilizer. thats just a little more than the difference you pay between the two. then also if he is a good dealer and you buy the moto front end when you buy the quad he will buy back all your stock parts and put in his inventory. now you would have to do this at time of purchase before the quad has been rode. thats the way i would go.

Guy,

I guess your getting ready to unload the Lt?

That's the only differences between the two. I kinda like the gray plastic better...but it's still not worth the extra money. I don't personally care for the bars on the Speed. They're pretty narrow for me. If your going to get it ready for MX, then save the money and put it towards mods.
A friend of mine just opened a Cannondale shop 3 1/2 hrs away from you. I'll make it worth your while to drive over when your ready to buy. I can get you a screaming deal on one. He has a couple 03 LE's and a Black Cannibal. He also has a Speed if you really wanna go that way.

markvette,

how does the motto front end compare to other after market a-arms? and the ohlin shocks for the moto, are they compareable to custom axis?

mrp , what is the width measurement on your r's front end? i checked mine yesterday and with +2 a-arms, it was 47 inches wide. both of my friends r measure 47 inches also. has anyone actually checked to see if the front end on a motto is 50 inches?

mrp probably could answer this better than me. for what you pay for the moto front end i think its a great deal but yes i would say the axis shocks are better than the ohlins but look at the difference you pay in the two.not sure about the width of the moto front end. we dont ave it right now, if kip sees this he can answer that question.

I'm not Markvette, but...

The Moto arms are bigger and heavier duty than most aftermarket arms. They offer camber adjustability and maybe a little caster with the use of some spacers on the mounts. The ball joint setup on the lower arms look similar to what Houser uses on their long travel arms.

The Moto front is setup to use 19" shocks.

The 19" Ohlins that come with the Moto are decent shocks, but not up to par with PEP or Axis. They use 9/16" shafts instead of the 5/8" that the aftermarket ones do. They are pretty firm and have adjustable ride height, although I'm not too terribly impressed with the spring setup. They'll land jumps pretty nicely, but are a bit harsh and dance around a bit in the rough.

The front end width depends heavily on ride height and wheels used. With our quad lowered for flat track and a set of Hoosiers on 3/2 (stock offset) wheels, it is actually wider than 50" (about 50 1/2&quot

Guy - buy the Cannibal if you're going to replace the tires, wheels, and shocks anyhow. You can always remap for the higher rev limit later (that's the only difference in Cannibal and Speed mapping). You can also get a Cannibal in silver if that's what you want.

As far as the bars go, the Tags that come with the Speed are not the T2 tapered bars, they are the standard 7/8" bars.

My front end is 48-48.25 at the top of the tires w/ standard offset Douglas Ultimates and shredders on front. I run 19" Holeshots for the track on regular 190's....

Speed also has the better seat and I heard they are gonna have better wheels for '03. The differences are definately worth the money.....unless you're gonna change it all anyway.
