is this a good pipe and silencer for the 400EX. How much power does it give the machine as far as low mid and top range. Im looking for the best exhaust for the machine.

Best exhaust for a stock 400 is hands down a white brothers or an hmf. I think it is hmf? Hmm. both cheap, around 200 and the gain is worth it no matter what peeps say. The LRD system on a stock quad supposidly lowers HP. Unless you plan to mod the engine the LRD pipe may not be the way to go. But the LRD looks better than any pipe out there. Nop one can argue that...

prang11 didnt do anything to your 400. I've heard that the whitebrows pipe dont give as much low end I heard it takes a little away and increases the mid to top. I also want a full system. And if any one else out there could help it would be great.

I have to disagree with Prang11...I never heard that the LRD exhaust actually LOWERS the HP of the 400. It seems as if all the manufacturers are very very close with their HP numbers with the 400 exhaust. A while back a couple magazines did a shootout with almost every exhaust sytem, but at the time, LRD and Sparks and maybe a couple others didn't offer a spark arrestor, so the shootouts were a little swayed. I have heard that these "racier" exhausts are a little better flowing and really shine when combined with internal engine modifications. Depending on what you're planning to purchase, a slip on muffler, or a full exhaust system with header and muffler, I myself love the LRD full exhaust system. When I used to race ATV MX, we always used LRD products with our 250R, and I NEVER had a complaint with their performance, product quality, customer service, anything! So, About 18 months ago when I was thinking about getting back into racing, I didn't hesitate about picking up an LRD Chrome Exhaust System for my 400. I noticed a pretty good gain in the mid to top end. I also rejetted the carb, ran a UNI air filter, and took off the airbox cover too. My buddy bought a White Brothers exhaust for his 400 around the same time, and that worked well also, but he paid over $100 more than I did, his wasn't chromed, and I personally think the LRD product has a nicer overall fit and finish to it. Anyway, long story short, I do way more trail riding than track racing and I'm not getting back into racing after all, and I'm selling some of my stuff to get some money out of the investment. If you're interested in the Exhaust...

I did a review on this system on exriders.com when I first bought it, if you want to read it...it might give you info you want to know.
