The machine is completely stock. it is only 4 1/2 months old.The valves were adjusted & the filter is serviced regularly.I have an 89
250R and have never fouled a plug yet, even at very slow speeds.he runs 93 octane and rarley abuses the bike.

Something is very wrong. 4-strokes don't foul plugs....

We need more info to help you. What is fouling the plugs (oil or fuel)? When does it foul them? When did it start fouling them? Why hasn't it been taken back to the dealer for warranty?

We're missing part of the story here.

my 99 fouled a couple when i first got it , 4 strokes are cold natured so ya got to watch giving it throttle while the choke is on, besides that, alot of cold cranking without getting the engine warm seems to shorten plug life in mine , i haven't had one foul in months.....crank it and ride it !!

I have had my 400EX since september '98. I have ridden in below 0 F a few times and below 32F many many times. I have never fouled a plug. I am still using the original plug.

My 350X would foul a plug once in a while before I rebuilt it. It was burning oil and I discovered the head was cracked when I sent it in for a valve job. I would be willing to bet your cousins is not that serious.

Has he been messing with the jetting or something?
Not enough info there!

My buddy left the gas on over night on his 400EX and the dealer said it fouled the plug.

The plug is fouling from fuel.It only does itwhen trying to start it after the motor is cool(overnight)The thing doesnt want to start w/ the choke and then by the time you figure its not going to start its too late:FOULED PLUG!!I noticed a couple weeks ago it was smoking on deacceleration;a light blue smoke, also I noticed the coil wes out of its holder.Could it have sustained damage and cause a week spark? I am not a mechanic, but i have a pretty good knowledge of motor basics. The machine seems to run good after (and if!!)you get it running.
The reason it wasnt taken back for warranty service is the owner lives in columbus and I live in southwest PA,the bike stays at my house and my dealer said the owner had to be present.(paperwork)I asked him for suggestions and he said "we'll have to take a look at it"I put a new plkug in last night-NGK DPR8Z-and after some cranking it fired and ran nice,You guys are probably thinking valves right? no noise there or camchain either.Could it just be a cold heart machine?

Tell your friend,(the owner) to call (your dealer) and set up an apointment for the bike to come in for warrenty service. And that any paperwork that has to be filled out "to be faxed to him".Have him fax the needed paperwork back to the dealer. Then you bring in the bike and drop it off on the scheduled date.

Remember- "its under warrenty" It may be nothing to fix, Or it may be somthing big!that hasen't happened yet.Better safe than sorry! And the bigest point of all is

"It's a HONDA- Stock="It better run flawless.

Just for the record, Mine blew apart a main bearing cage and took the whole motor with it.With one month left on the warrenty. It was covered, To the tune of $1700 bucks.By a good dealer. And is the only one I know of that failed.

If the dealer still gives you trouble.Bring his name and location in here. And we'll show him how powerful the web really is.Chances are he'll fix it to your satisfaction. And on time.
The (paperwork)Is just the hoops the dealer has to jump through to do their job.

And yes,They are cold bl <IMG SRC="http://forums.atvconnection.com/ubb/redface.gif"> <IMG SRC="http://forums.atvconnection.com/ubb/redface.gif">ded
