Im trying to dial in my carb now that I made changes to the exhaust system and air intake. Today I rode it for the first time with the new mods and an elevation of 3300. I noticed I was running a little lean (tip of plug whiteish). I normally ride at sea level, would I be running leaner or richer at sea level then I would at 3000+ feet?

I read some articles saying with gas of today that it is really hard to get a plug reading. I went riding for about 3 hours today and the ceramic part of the plug is still looking like it was when new but surrounding the ceramic it has good dark color.

If you go from 3300ft to sea level you will be leaner. Check out buttfungus's website, there is alot of good info on jetting. It's under "DS jetting/mods data".

What jet size are you running at 3300' elevation? Needle position? Mikuni Jet or Dynojet jet?

I was running a 175 main Dynojet at 4000' with a K&N in the box, lid removed. I have a Pro-Circuit slip on pipe that probably doesn't have the performance of the Gradon.

If you want to see even more performance improvemet go to the K&N Direct mount (I now run a 185 main Dynojet at 4000' and it pulls much stronger.

You will probably need a new CDI now that you have made these mods since your powerband has moved out to the right (bouncing off the rev limiter.)

I am using dyno jets and I installed them per their instructions. I am running a DJ195, needle on #3. The bike ran great, excellent throttle response and much improved low end.

As far as checking the plug for color, I have heard of a few different ways. One is to ride at full throttle then kill it right away and check the plug. The second way is to just ride it normal for a for an hour or so and then check plug. Any way better then the other? Any truth to that it is real hard to get a good reading on unleaded pump gas?
