Default RCR Stage 1 kit/97 Scrambler 400. WOW!

Put the RCR Stage 1 Kit on my 97 Scrambler 400 a couple of weeks ago. All I can say is "WOW!" What a difference. It's a little louder than I desire but I can live with it. Had my first ride with my buds last weekend (2 - 01 Scrambler 500's) Prior to the kit, I was equal with one in most all ranges and the other (with minor mods) would pull me throughout and continue to pull away.

Now, It's not even close. Off the line, I walked away and spent the rest of the day looking back at them. Even when we were just casual riding, when one would pull up next to me and challange, I'd just shake my head and pull ahead. At the end of the day, both were talking about how they could mod their 500's.

This was the best $325 I could have spent. It gave me a completely new ride. Thanks Rick!

that for sure,i totally agree, you're just feeling it better there is much more the get max power/speed but those (RCR STAGE 1 KIT,pipe/clutch) are the biggest bang for the money, add a V-FORCE 2 then with reed spacer and you won't beleive it.

A reed spacer is roughly a 3/8 inch spacer plate that goes between the reed cage and cylinder. It is nearly a must on big bore stuff, and helps with mid-range on all others. If you run the stock airbox, though, it kind of cramps everything together due to moving the carb back. I didnt really like the fit. I run the open pod filter. If you have the stock reeds, trash them and get some good replacements. You can buy the boyensen carbon fibers to put on the stock cage for about 1/4 of the price and get great results. HLSINC, when you pull the cylinder off, let me have it and I'll port you some horsepower cheaper than anyone else. Bubba

it is a metal plate with bolt-on screw holes to fit with the reed cage, throw more air into the cage for more torque/hp and broader powerband, longer lasting reed petal lifes too, performances reed is your next step,as been said earlier,if you can't spend for the whole reed cage(v-force 2)get at least the boyesen power reeds (petals only)for a lot less money, you'll get snapper throttle response and some hp gains out of the pipe.
