Where do you guys think that Bombardier will do to shave weight off of the DS? How much do you think they can save without sacrificing too much reliability?

I bet they are working on a mid-size, lightweight. Like a 450. Everybody else is. The DS needs to lose some weight, but it would take a major redesign to shed any significant pounds. Let's hope they will do both. Bombardier is getting very serious about their quads. I am more impressed all the time.

I work at a bombardier dealership and my sales rep told me that all he can say is it is either going to be a 400 or 500 sport quad not a redesigned ds 650. it is going to be a all new bike.

DS is fine the way it is. I don't think it can lose much weight at all without sacrificing reliability. Many people have spent much money to shed 20 pounds, and that's about as far as it can go without serious restructuring, unless you want stuff to start breaking every ride, or lose the size, comfort, and stability.
I love my DS as is, and I guarantee that the new 400 or 500 sport quad they put out to compete with the MX quads will be too small for me to ride, just like all the rest. The DS is the only performance quad ever manufactured that somebody as tall as me can actually ride confidently without feeling like being on a toy. I sure am thankful to Bomb for its creation!
