New 700! spring question?
#1
Ok, guys I am new to the polaris forum. Gave the trusted cat to the wife and picked up my new 700 polaris Sat. I love this machine. I never new a quad this big could be so easy to steer. And more power than a Federal Judge. I have 1 complaint. In sticky rock crawling situtaions the quad will kinda stall at slow speeds, then with just a little more throttle it "jumps" I know I should probabaly go to low range but I don't like doing that. My cat is really good at crawling like this in high range. I was reading about changing to the "white spring" ???? Can somone explain this to me. Where is the spring located. Will this affect my top end etc... I have had the cats belt and pullys off several times and I have never seen any springs in there that could be changed. Just asking for a little detail on where and how. Thanks in advance.

A lot of guys with 700 have that problem. If you want it fixed ?pick up a heelclicker clutch kit. Then you won't have that problem.www.heelclicker.com or go talk to cob at atv nation website. He can set you up with a deal.

I have heard that you can burn up belts real quick if you do any climbing, mudding or heavy pulling with the sportsmans if you are in high range. Get the Heelclicker. I dont have one but i do know people that do and these things rock!!

Jxp, I put the white spring in my HO and there is even more of a stall than stock. I would always use low when rock crawling. The spring goes in the primary clutch, if you take off your clutch cover you will see it. Springs and clutch weight are tricky. Polaris set up the stock clutch to be mild to suit most riders. You should ask others who have done clutch work before buying to see if that is what you want.

Get the Heelclicker and your problem will be gone. I was having the same problem with my 700. If you drop down into a ditch and hit the gas to come out the other side the belt would smoke. Its not really practical to shift into low at the bottom and then stop again to shift back into high when you get out. I installed the heelclicker kit and the problem is gone! You can also impress all of your friends by EASILY rideing wheelies in low range.
