02 H0 SHIMMY

Default 02 H0 SHIMMY

MY 02 500HO HAS A SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END.IT IS MORE NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEEDS. IF YOU LET GO OF THE HANDLE BARS IT BECOMES A VERY VIOLENT SHIMMY. MY MECH CALLED POLARIS AND THEY ARE GOING TO CHANGE THE FRONT TIRES TO SEE IF THIS CORRECTS THE PROBLEM.ANY OF YOU RIDERS HAD THIS PROBLEM ? IF SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DID. THANKS

Default 02 H0 SHIMMY

Mine does it, but I think it is due to rolling it over when I first got it. I broke one of the front cv joints. The joint was replaced and I put new wheels on it and it is still there, but not as bad b/c I think the wheel was warped. I think my front hub is bent. You can tell a slight wobble when rotating the hub w/o the wheel on it. I suppose you haven't wrecked it at all. If not, it could be coming from some slop in your tie rod ends which is very common on the sportsmans, even the 01's and 02's.

Hope that new tires will fix your trouble.. Still think it is alignment related.. New tread on front wont hurt anyway.....
