Default Opportunity to buy a LT 500

I have a co-worker that has a 1987 Suzuki LT 500 (Quadzilla) and he wants to sell it for $4500. I's set up for sand and has has a few bolt on goodies, pipe, chrome swing arm, reinforced frame. It looks very clean and runs very well.

I do not know anything about the LT 500's, is this a fair price?

It would have to be in immaculate condition for 4500.00 , A "good" condition LT is worth 3500.00. I had a chance at one time to purchase a 89 LT500 with trinity stage 4 motor in better than new condition(show bike) for 4500.00 so its hard for me to think an average one is worth that much.JMO.

The price sholud be more like $3,000. I had one any they are fast, but the crank case on the '87 are of poor quailty.
If you by it make sure there are not any cracks in the crank cases.

It all depends on the condition, I would say $ 4500 is a little high unless the thing is in mint condition with alot of extra's and a well built motor.(LIKE TRINITY ) I have seen a few around that would be worth $4500 but not many. I would say $3000 to $3500 is about average price for a decent one.

If the timing was different for me, I'd buy it in a heartbeat Bill!
Much like the DS, the Zilla is the only two stroke factory built with dimensions to accomidate my 6'8" hide, and is definitely on my wish list!

I'm like hightower... I'm 6'7" so I wanted an LT500 until I saw the Dirt Wheels with the first DS on the cover. I did shop for LT500's for a while and $4500 definately sounds high; I've seen DS's advertised for less than that. The likelihood of engine bearing problems in the LT500 also kept me away.

As mentioned an 87 is a year that had some problems, 3500 would be tops, If you want a zilla look for a different year.JMO.
