Kodiak or Arctic-Cat?

Personally from what I have seen and heard from others in my area is the AC isn't up the level of the Japanese bikes in reliability or speed, though they can go through some places that no ATV should be capable of going due to a lot of ground clearance and suspension.

I disagree with 450HondaForemanS. AC in my opinion is just as reliable as the Japanese bikes, just not as fast(but if your Father was looking for speed he would want a sport machine,Same with doughnuts). The pulling power of the AC is superb,it has all kinds of low end touque.450 HondaForeman was right that they will go places that other quads can't.The only problem I have had with my AC 400i is boots tearing but that problem is solved with after market protecters.Plus I believe your Father would like the ride of an AC i model over the Kodiak. But as always I must say he has to get out there and try the different models for himself to decide which atv suits him best.Good luck.

Have to agree there, my 500i has been bulletproof reliable, and unstoppable. In all fairness to the Kodiak, it is a bit quicker and handles tighter on a prepared trail. If the trail gets rough, or nonexistant, the Cat is the hands down winner. Plenty of pulling power, too - I use mine on the farm to drag fallen trees off of fencerows, and it has been terrific.
