I'm a newbie ATV owner. I bought this 1986 Kawasaki Bayou 300 today. It is is pretty good shape, but I'd appreciate any suggestions on problem areas that might exist with this particular model. Any ideas on what I should do for regular maintenance would also be appreciated. Also, I'd appreciate receiving web site addresses for accessories for these machines or maybe you could just post the URLs? The differential is locked on it. Should I leave it locked all the time? I'll be riding in badlands areas and prairie areas in North Dakota. I'll also be riding in some snow in the wintertime. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I think you probally got a good one. I have had a 86 bayou 300 since it was new the motor and trans have never skipped a beat. The plastic is shot but it is a good 4 wheeler

Hey, good choice, Kawasaki Bayou's are good rigs, i own a 99 4x4..... If your going to be doing some mud and snow riding you should probably invest in a good set of tires for the rear...... u should lock the diff in any situation/riding places, that will need traction, when trail riding or on grass unlocked would be the best
