Default Head pipes glowing.......

My head pipes have been glowing red for a while I checked the plugs and I am not running lean. I ordered new jets just to make sure but they haven't come in yet and its been over a month. Is this normal. I don't want to do any damage to my pipes or my engine.

It definitly sounds like a case of running lean, and also checking the plugs on the DS is not the best way, because due to being a dual plug motor it burns extremely clean and often will not give accurate results. I would not run the motor again until you have the jets, just to be safe.

The head pipes on my bike glow red when you are just idling around or cruising at slow speeds.I think this is totally normal because all the stock ds 650s that I ride with do it.I wouldn't say you were lean. When do the pipes glow?

Usually they glow when I am going down a road (slow) or through the trails. But I have noticed redness while going at faster speeds.

1: have you done any cam swaps? if so, its possible the cams were not set properly or the crankshaft was not aligned with the cams therefore causing a false timing position.

2: what plugs are you running? stock plug is DR8EA

When mine was stock the head pipe would glow, after I put the stage 1 kit on it stopped, it does sound like you may be a little lean.
