ya for the sporty side a 300ex or a blaster would be a good choice
if you want something with less power and no clutch look into a 250ex or the new z250
it all depends on what you want and where you ride

I would have loved to start out on a 400EX but I started with a 50. The 250Ex would be a good machine to start out on and I can't wait to see the new Suzuki sport auto clutch.

I would get a 250 of some kind because someone that age can get hurt very quickly on a 400 or bigger quad with no experiance. When I was about that age a 96 300 4x4 was a very good fit because it was a good all around fourwheeler and I still like it today and sometimes will ride it around instead of the Rubicon.

nick01,
You might be on to something there. The older Honda TRX300-- 2 wheel drive models would be a good quad to start out on. Those quads can all most do anything just at a slower speed though.
I wouldn't mind having another. Our 98 300 4x4 isn't leaving our family any time soon.

My 13 year old daughter rides our 250EX and she loves it. She is not an "enthusiast" but will ride with me 4-5 times a season. Some advatages over the 300/400EX (which are great bikes) that you may want to consider:
Autoclutch
Lower Cost
Less maintenance
More clearance
Tighter turning radius
Holds more fuel
Reverse (and its easy to use)
I recommend it for someone like you.

How heavy are you? How tall? How much experience do you have? etc...... There are a whole range of great bikes out there, but it depends on how you answer these questions!! My daughter is 12 (but big for her age). She has a 250EX and Recon right now, but previously had a 300EX (which she loved, but we just didn't have any more room in the garage!!). Her little brother will inherit the 250EX and Recon, and she will move up to my old 400EX and 2X4 Rancher.
