do tha new sportrax overheat?

Howdy honda folks I know that the EX's are a very nice machine in many aspects. However I have always been drawn away, because they are air cooled. Anyone ever burned one up? I know they must not burn easy, considering people race them in MX quite often and must not have problems. Appreciate your honest opinions on the subject. As long as the quad is moving and there is air flowing through the cylinder head fins, air cooled engines work great.
When you go nuts with the upgrades the engine builds more heat with the extra ponies, and can cause a loss of power at some point.
But other then that they work great and are slightly more reliable because there are fewer parts to go bad (coolent leaks, bad pump, low coolent level, air in the coolent, etc.)

never had a problem with mine... and I've run it HARD way HARD... in W.Va on all day trail rides, hil climbs, etc.
60+ miles a day
and balzing up and down the beach on a 90 degree summer day

When I am pulling up a long dune on a hot day, I will notice it begin to fade because it gets hot. But, I wouldn't say it was hot enough to be a danger to the engine. It never gets so hot that it smokes or anything like that.

thanks fellas. what if you put a turbo and intercooler in there? would the intercooler keep it nice and cool to prevent power loss?

Hmm turbo and intercooler. You got a money tree? 5k for these mods with a stock motor. IT would keep the moto cool cause of the intercooler but that is hella money. Running on alcohol is another way to drop the heat a little and alky is a ton cheaper.
I notice powerr loss on mine after about 4-6 runs up a drag hill. After that i must let it sit for 20mins or so to regain the true potential.

Dude go with the ex. Ther is no machine as reliable or has even thought of being as realiable as a honda and personaly I think that power loss stuff is a bunch of bull. i give my machine no slack what so ever. That is why I only buy a honda.
