Anti-Wear I
#1
Anybody ever use Anti-Wear I?
it's a product you can check out on dynamicdevelopment dot com.
I was wondering if it would be ok to put in a 4-stroke engine and not mess up the clutch.
It's an oil additive that is supposed to make engines run smoother and cooler. Good for cars, boats, all kinds
of things I guess.
I have run synthetic oil and foul plugs and my clutch slips. no good, so I run semi-synthetic mix now and seems to be just fine.
Since I just replaced my clutch, I'm nervous about using something like this.
Any comments?

Ive had really good luck with valvoline 20-50 motorcycle oil, it says its special formulated for wet clutches, i was always having problems with my clutch since my ex is a 465 now , but ever since i went to that oil it works fine, as far as wear on other engine components, i dont think its much different than the rest of the oils i have run including honda gn4, spectro, golden spectro, klotz, mobil1, all the top brands, ive had my ex apart enough to know how everything wears, strokers dont like 13:1 89mm pistons lol, i wouldnt put in any kind of additive because youll smoke your clutch, honda shoulda made the ex motor like the crf with separate oils, that way you can run hp4m with moly in the engine slipery stuff. later you can get the valvoline at meijers

Dump, I sure hope there was a difference in your valvoline and the Golden spectro or Klotz. Golden spectro is for 2-stroke and Klotz only makes oil 2-stroke oil.
EeEcksRider, I have never used Anti-wear but I recommend Energy Release. I run Castrol V-twin full synthetic in my 250x (have had various bores and strokes, pump, race gas, and alky). I have NO signs of wear. I mix 2 ounces of ER per quart of oil. FTZ claims noteable hp gains are shown on the dyno with ER mixed. It will not hurt the clutch. I have been running the same barnet kit (minus the junk springs) for over 2 years.

Energy Release (ER) can be bought through most atv dealers. Personally, I pick mine up at FTZ. This is simply because I drive by their shop every other day and they are open when others aren't. One word of caution, this stuff isn't cheap. You can buy it from FTZ at www.ftzracing.com. Other than that, check around on the web.
ER claims it can be ran in anything. Truck, atv, lawnmover, mixed in 2-stroke oil, rearends, transmissions, gearboxes, etc. I run it in the 250x, 68 ford truck engine (850+hp 521 stroker), used to have it in the truck rearend when it was spooled but changed to a different fluid with locker, and in a 225 yamaha (they are bad about wearing the head where the cam rides). You probably won't notice a power difference, but if you routinely rebuild like I do, you can see the wear going down. I used to have to replace my timing chain often with the heavy springs/high rpms that I run. I noticed better wear even on the timing chain when using ER.
One more thing about the castrol v-twin. Even with all the different fuels, ride time, temp, warm clutch, etc that would break down most oils, the 20w-50 full synthetic has NEVER broke down. I started running Hondas GN4, a great oil, but noticed it was breaking down so I switched and couldn't be happier. By the way, this oil isn't cheap either. When you have as much in an engine as I do the 410 stroker or the 521 ford, what is a couple extra dollars?
If you try it, let me know what you think.
