couple questions for 250ex owners, wheel spacers?? and paddles??
#1
Hey guys, i want to order some of the durablue wheel spacers for my wifes 250ex, and a set of paddle tires( going with 20" 6 paddle skat trak haulers?) anyway my question is for the spacers, anyone have them. Rocky mountain only shows them for the 300ex, im assuming they are the same?????? how do you remove the old studs?? do they just hammer out? Do you guys run them on the front or just mount the rim backwords for more spacing?
thanks alot guys
Rob.
ps. any ideas on how 20" 8 paddle haulers would performe on this quad, 02 250ex no mods? see, i have them on my DS 650 and would love to switch mine up to 9 or 10 paddles and stick the 8 paddles on hers but im thinking it dont have enough power to run 8 paddles???
thanks alot guys

We have offset rims on ours, with holeshots front and rear. Makes a HUGE difference in handling with the extra width and lower profile tires. Not sure about the paddles as I don't see any sand up my way, though I wish I did.

Jetjock, if you are buying new wheels & tires they will probably have a wider offset anyway... Something to think think about with the wheel spacers.
The 6 paddles seem about right for the 250ex.
I am certain the 8 paddles would be too much for the 250ex... Paddles suck up a lot of power and the 350ex doesn't have to spare in the sand.
Also, depending on the level of mods on your DS - you may want to stick with the 8 paddles on that too. I run 8 paddles on my modified Banshee and it performs way better than it did with 10 paddles. I probably gained at least 5 maybe 10 MPH top speed and I still hooks up good too.

If you get wheel spacers, avoid the Durablue!!! See www.sand-sport.com These are real nice aluminum units that just bolt on. 4" wider is a lot on a 250. It will be wider than it is long, and will handle real BOXEY. My solution has been to use wheels with a wider offset. ITP Holeshots on ITP rims. This makes the bike +2 in front, and +3 in back---just enough, but not to much!!
8-padles are a lot for the 400EX, much less the little 250. We use 6-padle, 20" Skat-Trak Edges on ITP 9X9 rims, and the bike does really well.

The 300EX and the 400EX spacers will fit the 250EX. The bolt pattern and hubs are the same. The Durablue EZ-Fit wheel spacers have extension bolts that screws onto the existing stud bolts. Therefore you don't have to mess with getting the old ones out, which is a bit of a pain. However, I would recommend using Loc-tite on these as well as checking them frequently. Our 250EX only has the spacers on he front (1 1/2" per side=3" Wider) and a Durablue Eliminator 2+2 (4" wider) on the rear. "Wider is Better." Much better.

Thanks alot guys, im going to order the skat trak edges with 6 paddles, 20"er's on the ITP 9x9 wheels and some sand sharks up front on the ITP's for a wider stance, i think im goint to order the pro circut slip on at the same time and maybe a K&N, that should cure the problem at the dunes, for now she'll(wife) have to ride the stocker rims and tires on the trails, Thanks for the advice on keepin my 8 paddles on my DS.
appreciate all the help guys, thanks
Rob.
