Default New Cannondale owner!!!!!!

For Christmas this year we got 2 2002 cannibals. We are on the last stage of factory break in. All i can say is WOW! Havent pinned it yet but can tell it can rev to the moon and get there quick, real quick. After the last break in ( tomarrow morning ) we are going to Pismo to test them out. Only have a few complaints. The supension seems relly stiff. How much could i adjust it? Im probley going to put it on the softest setting tomarrow to see if it makes a difference. We have the Arvins in the frount with an Oliens on the rear, Holeshots on the back, and the square silencer. Any tips or tricks after i finish breaking it in??
my first couple mods will be either a Curtis Sparks pipe or an HMF. Any suggestions or comments would be appreicated.

Thanks

AWESOME Thunder! What color are they?
Lube your aarm bushings! Loctite plastics bolts. check others. Set idle 2,100 or so, pretty fast. Get spare fuel filters and the little o-rings that go on the quick connects, CR8EK plugs. Get a 12 point 6mm socket with swivel head extension for the head pipe nuts. Check clutch actuating arm adjustment...12o'clock position. Tighten tie rod end studs. Do not overfill the oils. That's all i can think of for now.
Congratulations!! You will know you have the best when you get em dialed in!!

check your frame rail bolts after every ride. im talking about the ones that are below the engine and you take off to drop the engine. best to do what we did, tighten as much as you can then back each nut up with another one with the nylon insert in it. change inner tie rod nuts to nylon insert nuts. check seat bolt often and dont loctite it. move handlebar mounted on/off switch to right side of start button. check and clean plug in wire connectors every now and then.

oh and last but not least, mash the throttle and haaanggg on. welcome to the jungle !!!!!!!!

Well we got 2 red ones but i am going to get all silver plastic with silver headlights ect... I checked almost all of the bolts and they seem to be on tight. We just got done with the breaking in and draining the oil. Going to Pismo today but im going to take it easy today maby not even put on the paddles, but tomarrow im going to drag race it a little (would this be ok??). I think my brother is going to skip the last break in step because he is so excited. I warned him not to but he wont listen to me. It is kind of hard to get into neutral so i do it when im gliding to a stop or i just shut it off and put it in neutral (good or bad idea?). I have a couple questions tough, My suspension seems relly stiff in the frount and in the back, how much should i adjust it ?, Can i get the fuel filters from a autoparts store? But outside of those things i love it.

PS- ( people touch it and just watch them get busted )

thanks

Congratulations!!!! You will love it in the dunes. The fuel filters can be purchased at an auto parts store. Get a couple of them, they're cheap. As far as the suspension goes, give it some time. It will get broke in but it takes a while. The best thing to do is ride it HARD and FAST. The suspension works best then anyway. Besides, once you hit the throttle on it, you will automatically be riding that way! Yeeehaaawww!

dont worry about the front shocks, I thought that same thing long time ago. Now I am running the fronts on the stiffest and the rears all I have adjusted is the **** on the bottom where it attaches to the swingarm, 15 clicks from the right. I dont jump too big but ill get 8 feet high off a double and land anyway I please and it is plush, and I am 6ft. 2 in. and 195 pds.

I have the ohlins, but I venture a guess you need a few more hours on the ride to get the front end worked in, I dont think mine felt too smooth and plush till about 50 hours.

Hope you enjoy the ride, it is the best!
trout.
