Honda Recon or the Yamaha BearTracker????
#1
Hi all,
I'm a Honda fan because I own a Honda outboard and it's awesome, but I also know Yamaha is a good company too. The Recon is about $400 more than the Yamaha, and it seems like the Beartracker comes with better equipment (standard hitch, more carrying capacity, wider wheelbase, hydrolic brakes (are hydrolic brakes better than drum, by the way??)). Is one machine superior to the other? I just want to haul some firewood around and ride some sand trails by my house...any input would be excellent!
Thanks,
Joadman

Welcome to "Time".
I am surprised that the Recon would be THAT much more expensive than the equivelent Yamaha. You may also want to look at the Suzuki Ozark. They have frt. disk brakes. You should be able to buy a Recon for about $3100---$3300 out the door. I have a '01 Recon for sale that is as new, with 30 hrs. on it for $2800.

joadman,
I have 2 Recons and they are great.Haven't any problems with either and the Electric Shift works really well.We use ours for trail riding, hunting, and plowing snow and it does it all without any problems.I haven't ridden any Beartrackers, but all of the magazines have rated the Recon much better. You can't go wrong with the Recon.

I just got a brand new Bear Tracker today. I love it! It really has more power than anybody gives it the credit for. I was looking at the Recon, but the Beartracker has bigger racks, more rack capacity, more towing capacity, disk brakes on the front. It has the Recon beat in almost every area. It even has a bigger gas tank. Trust me. It's great. I rode around with my bro's new Scrambler 500 and kept up just fine, even though mine isn't broken in yet. In fact, I left him in the dust on the trails. You can't go wrong with a Bear Tracker.

joadman,
I would say the beartracker is an improvement over the quad it replaced the Timberwolf.
Having ridden both the Recon and beartracker the recon is more sporty in its ride and demeanor.
But going by your post the beartracker might be the quad for you.
