Big Bear reliability vs Foreman 400
#1
Am looking around for a good used quad for my Dad. Not an aggressive rider and would probably only be out in the bush 2 or 3 times a month in the summer and just pushing snow in the winter. How long has the Big Bear been out and how is it for reliability in general? The key selling point of the Big Bear over the Honda that I see is a little bigger fuel tank and more ground clearance. He has owned Honda's in the past and is happy with them but is looking to try something new. Thanks for your input.

The BB has been around since 1990 I believe. It is an atv that has remained unchanged for years. Up until 2000 they were 350's and for the last 3 year changed to 400cc. I know people with these atv's and they are buillet proof. A few people around here really drive them hard an will not turn around under any circumstance. Strangely enough thes people are at every atv poker run.
Personally I would not be afraid to purchase one of the atv's. I owned an 93 Kodiak that gave me the same reliability. The only complaint that I've ever heard for the BB owner's is that there BB cost more money to replace things like bearings and things like that. Over all a good atv
Good Luck

I've used my old bear around my farm for four years. Only problems have been the carb boot (they all go, eventually) and front brakes are currently in need of an overhaul, but that's not unexpected after four years. Otherwise, it has always run when I needed it. Solid and reliable.
