Default GasGas 300 two stroke

Dirt wheels just did an article on this race quad & says its got a better engine than the 250r. It looks like it would need little to no adjustments except for the suspension. Its rated @ 49.4HP & weighs about the same as a banshee around 386lbs. It looks like a bad a...s machine. The list price is $7695 or so & it sounds like few dealers are ready to discount them just yet. I did find a dealer in NJ who is willing to sell one for $7300. Anybody get one yet, anybody have any experience with GasGas?

I have to say I thought it was quite funny how the article states, "we feel this machine needs further dialing in to make it a worthy successor to the mighty Honda Fourtrax 250R. Even though Honda has not made one in over 14 years, if you look hard enough, you can still find one and pay $3000-$4000 for it"(pg 71, conclusions).
Not that magazine reviews are ever that accurate when presenting or comparing quads, but in light of their quoted statement it sounds like they are almost telling you to buy a 250R.

I definetely would consider the GasGas if I was in the market to buy something new today. I like it for the simple fact that they are the only company putting out a new design quad that is powered by a 2 stroke, and you are definetely getting alot for your money with the GasGas.

With all that said the way I interpreted it was that they're not that impressed with it because of its stiff suspension and steering and therefore they're telling you, I should say quoting you, prices on a used 250R.

From talking to some of the dealers, even those who won't be carrying the atvs said it should be a very high quality machine because of there experience with the trials bikes.
GasGas is even coming out with a 450 four stroke with fuel injection that is rated around 45hp. That may not be a bad option either. The only down side is it wieghs around 410 lbs.
I own a Raptor & the high center of gravity can be a problem on big hill climbs so the GasGas may be my next machine!?
