I went to my local dealer yesterday to look at the 03' Sportsman 600. " Very Impressive"
My only concern is all the horror stories I hear about Polaris ATV's getting through water.
My question is: Has Polaris corrected all theses problems. My dealer quoted me a price of $6999.00, However he said he had room for negotiation. I am new to this forum so Thanks in advance for all of your help.

You will like the sp600. I have the sp700 and I love it. You should however be able to get it cheaper than that. In wisconsin, we can get the 700 for $6545.

????????????you're kidding?........right?

the Sportsman700/600 is the most water-tight ATV around! i've never had a wet belt on my 700....nor have i ever read a single post on this forum about a wet belt on a SP700/600.

I have been riding/using atvs for several years (all Hondas) but when I decided to buy a new 4wd 4wheeler I decided to at least look around at some of the other brands. I too have heard stories about Polaris problems, but when I test drove that SP700 I knew that was the one I wanted. I think a lot of Polaris's bad rep came from their early days and also from the way many people I know around here are using them (extremely large tires and going mudding every weekend). If you are constantly playing in 3 feet of mud you are going to have some maintenance on whatever brand you are riding. I was so impressed with the SP 700 I went ahead and bought it, and so far it seems like a great machine, time will tell about the reliability as I usually keep my equipment several years. Since I bought the Polaris I have found about 20 or so people where I work that have been riding them for years and would have nothing else, some have had a few problems but they all like the Polaris machines. No brand is bulletproof, I have a 86 Big Red Honda that has never had a single problem, but I have had 2 other Hondas that had transmission problems.

I too was concerned about the belt drive, but the day I bought my Mossy Oak 700 I drove through water about 20-30 inches deep for about 100 yards in a flooded creeek bottom with no problems, so that is no longer a concern for me. I believe if anyone has the belt drive technology figured out it is probably Polaris as many years as they have been building them.

Buy you one of them Sportsmans. The 500 HO is plenty, but if it's just more power then the 600 or 700 is what you're looking for. Personally, I like the 500.

Thanks for the advice guys. If the price is right I may go for the SP700. They seem to be a bit more expensive down here in the South.

I just bought the Mossy Oak SP 700 about 10 days ago, I live in Arkansas, bought it in Texas. Out the door price was $7300 total, the non-mossy oaks are $7000, the SP 600s are $6500, best prices I could find around here.

I had a tough time finding a Predator here in Michigan. So, I ended up buying it out of state, and it saved me some money. I would recommend giving Twin Cove marina in Jacksboro Tennessee a call. He'll write it up as an out of state purchase, so you won't have to pay sales tax until you register. If you plan it right, do like I did. Pick up your machine and drive it over to Windrock and break it in. An awesome place to ride.

Went to buy my SP600 today and here is the deal.
6999.00 MSRP
489.93 Tax
349.00 Delivery Fee
109.00 Documentation Fee
That comes up to $7946.93
He said he could let me have it for $7500.00 OTD
I told him he could stick it where the sun does not shine!!! The scary part is, He said no dealer in Georgia could beat his price.
