Default K & N filters

Hey everyone

I've been reading alot of posts where yall have K & N filters on your predators. WHERE did yall get them? Polaris sayes their not available yet and K & N said their not available acording to customer service. The dealer said not available till Jan. 23rd, 03. from polaris
Also are the mikuni jets the small round, large round or hex type?

Any help would be appreciated

GO TO YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE AND GET K & N PART# 33-2003. PREDATOR MAIN JET IS THE MIKUNI SMALL ROUND JET.

Looks like from a K&N web page search, that this is a Square K&N from a 1983 Audi Quattro?

See my gallery pictures for a dirrect carb mount clamp on style of K&N too.

Hey Heapster,

Did you have to do any modifications to get the K N to fit? Also, did you have to rejet?

Thanks

Scott

The carb is a straight bolt on, no mods required. It seems to be very well protected as long as you don't try and play submarine captain.

While I have the filter, I'm not presently running it as I don't have the jets yet. I bought it at the Florence Oregon Polaris dealer at the dunes. He had jetted up to a 155, and said it needed more so I'm going for a 160. I've also heard to go to a 50 pilot, up from a ??? stock, and raise the needle a notch.

I may still go with the square drop in K&N, as the velocity stack effect of the long tapered snorkle can be a good thing. When I test ran the clamp on K&N without any jetting change, there was quite a stumble when you stab the throttle off idle. While jetting may cure this, its running so good and crisp right now in stock form, I don't want to mess up a good thing!

I bought this quad to RIDE it, not wrench on it! Thats why I sold my Yamahas!
