To keep a warranty I pay $7.00 for qt oil and $12.00 for filter GIVE ME A BREAK! There has to be a after market price that is better. How about Mobil 1, what weight, I drive a year in Michigan

I have not found an after market synthetic oil with the same viscosity as Polaris. I have found an alternative to a Polaris oil filter and that is Frams 6607. If you search back about a month or so there was a thread on this forum that listed 3 or 4 alternatives to Ps oil filter.

I use Mobil-1 5w-30. The fram 6607 fits and a fram 7317 also works. They are the same except the 7317 is longer. I haven't found any other brand that fits yet.

 

I am amazed that you guys (in the USA) are charged the same amount we are for parts, except in US dollars. The exchange rate today is 1 USD for $1.47 Canadian. Us Candians are getting a hell of a deal!

I use the Polaris oil. I figure a good quality synthetic of similar grade wouldn't be orders of magnitude less money. Might as well get the recommended oil. The recommended change interval is 100 hours (after break-in) so the small cost won't kill me.

The filter I use is an Emgo motorcycle filter. I believe the part number is 10-82230. It is the same filter used on many Honda motorcycles. The cost (from my Polaris dealer) is $8.

As a previous poster mentioned there have been lengthy discussions on this topic. Use the search feature to find the old post. There are many filter numbers there for Wix and other brands.

I posted a cross reference to other brand filters(besides Fram) but beware, some say theyve tried the Wix Filter and it didnt seal properly. I was told the Fram filter is dished in where as the wix filter was not, therefore it didnt go on all the way. If youre still interested in the info email me, I'll try to find it.

 

Thats right Ronnie, the Wix is not "dished in". I was warned about Fram filters, but used the 6607 anyways and it worked fine. Also using a semi-synthetic 0-40, and it works great too.

 

Belray oil makes a 0w-40 oil also buts its not cheap either, my dealer sold my oil for my 500 scrambler for $4.25 a qt. and filter for $6.75 so I didn't think it was to bad for syn. oil.
