Default HIGH OCTANE! HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?

I have only one gallon of Super High Octane Fuel. The company that makes it is no longer in buisness and have not been for quit some time. This was found in the back of an old shed. This is the last of it. It was orignaly used for cars for the purpose of drag raceing. I have a 2000 model Blaster with several mods. I have always used 93 octane in it and was wondering what is the highest octane that I could run in the quad without damageing the engine?

Also what is the highest octane that can still be purchased today?

The higher you get with the octane the more resistant to ignite the mixture becomes, you wont hurt the motor but eventually it will become too much for the ignition system to fire and it will start missing..

If you don't need high octane it's useless.
High octane needs high compression to burn completly, too high of an octane will not burn corectly & will leave excess deposits on your spark plug, in your exhaust ports & in your pipe.

If the fuel is as old as it sounds like chances are it's not very good anymore, fuel degrades with age.

I would not use that gas! IF it has been in a shed it probably lost its punch. The VP racing fuel place around here sells a gallon for about 6 bux i think. I love the smell of burring VP....

The 150 octane was used in drag raceing and for "Mud Drags" around here. It was also used of street vehicals that had dirty injectors and/or fuel systems includeing carbs. It also cleans the entire fuel delivery system. Of course it was diluted with 93 octane for your own preference. THAT'S WTF IT WAS USED FOR!

BLASTER96: $6 a gallon is a great price. When this fuel was selling big it sold for $14 a gallon. The same place also sold 125 oct. They sold the heck out of the 125 and 150oct. when you could still get it.

Ok, so this is not just any race gas... IT is super treated, and at 14 dollar a gallon, it had better be. It sounds a little to exessive for a blaster. What you seem to be refering to is something like jet fuel... ouch. I would still be leary of useing it becasue it has been sitting fro quite a while.

I think you are right blaster96. I think that I will put this in my car and maybe take it to the track and run it. I hate to just get rid of it. Thanks
