I've been looking around for a user-friendly quad for my future wife. It seems like the trail boss would be a good choice given its a 4-stroke and an automatic. Does anyone have experience with this quad? Is there is a big difference between the 250 and new 325? How is it compared to the trail blazer? Does it have any snap, or is it a complete slug? Thanks.

I have only ridden the new 325 so I can't compare it to the old 250, but the 325 is a very nice quad. It won't rip your arms off, but it isn't a slug. It has about the same acceleration and top end of a Trail Blazer. It has a great ride too, its a little better than the blazer, but it doesn't handle as well. Overall though I think this would be a great ride for your future wife.

Thanks JWSTrailBoss... that helps a lot. Has anyone ridden the 250? There's lots of used ones to pick from, I kinda don't want to spend the money on a new one (325). I haven't seen any used ones locally though, so any feedback on the 250 would be great - I would have to drive a few hours to see any. Are there any known problems associated with this quad?

I own a '99 TBoss 250 that I bought new and love it. I first didn't know about the 2-stroke but when i got on it, I quickly found out that I like 2-strokes better then 4-strokes. It gives you planty of power and is kind of a cross between
a sport quad and a utility. The only problem that I've had out of mine is the muffler heating up and melting about 1 inch of the fender where the muffler comes in contact with the fender. I went down to my local Polaris shop and they told me that they just put A/C duct insulation on the fender (the real shiny aluminum stuff). Well I tried that and it did the trick. I think that Polaris must have designed it to run up north and not down here with the 95 degree and up summers.

I have had a 00 trailboss since January and have had no problems. I do a lot of trail riding and it handles great in the woods. It is easy to steer and rides great. It won't pull a wheelie but that is not what I bought it for. It is also a safe ride for the kids because they won't snap the throttle and lose control.

I bought a 00 TB. the 4 stroke makes lotsa vibrations.. I saw somewhere on this forum someone recommended removal of one of the motor mounts and that would kill some vibes... All in all I like the unit..

Hi have a 00 trailboss for my son. I am happy with it so far the only thing Ive don to it so far was to put in the white spring to raise the engagement rpm. It now can spin the tires and didnt lose any top end.Its a nice machine for the money and so far very reliable. We did the Cockranton poker run with it and It went everywhere my Sportsman went.Even made it through the mudpit where I almost got stuck. I guess 100lb rider makes a difference.Good luck.

my '85 trail boss still does the trick... maybe thats a little extreme, but i've found the engine to be rock solid still, with good accelerations and decent power, even after 15 years. i've also rode some newer trail boss's, all being good machines

We have a 1991 Trail Boss 250 2 stroke. It is my wife's and I highly recommend it for yours. It has plenty of power for her, enough to get her in trouble when she isn't carefull. The suspension is a little bagged but the engine is rock solid. It has seen much use over the last nine years and is a great quad for the price you pay.

My wife had TB 250 and now she has TB325.
250: 2 stroke, quicker, lighter, handled very good, I did not like 2 stroke smell/strictly personnal thing/.
325 : slower, vibrates more,concentric drive/may be better design/ heavier,4 stroke..
Much worse mudder due to its weight. I have to pull my wife out of the mud every time we go riding. Bad,bad for muddy trails.
After all the Polaris Trail Boss 250 was more fun machine for ME! Just MY opinion.
