03 Kodiak Rev limitor
#1
Does any one know of a way to nypass the reverse rev limitor on my 2003 Kodiak 4x4. I found a site called bluemaxx.com that sells a kit that allows you to turn the rev limitor on and off. Is there an easier way to redirect the wiring so i don't have to spend $80.00. I swear the after market guys are in cahoots with ATV companies to extract as much loot out of riders as they can. Any help would be appreciated.

I was over on the High Lifter.com forum looking around yesterday, I noticed there were a lot of posts on this. You may want to do a search through some of the posts over there too. I couldn't really get there "search" option to work that well for me, so you may just have to page through the Yamaha forum until you find the topic. I know I had seen atleast 10 different post on the subject, with quite a few responses for each. There tends to be a lot of info for the Kodiak, Big Bear, and Grizzly over on that forum. From what I read, there is a set of wires you will need to snip and then ground to your bike.

Here are the instructions I found on eliminating the reverse rev limiter:
"first pull off the snap on side covers
find the white 3 wire plug on the left side just above the floor board
leave room to splice and cut that wire on the front side of the plug
take the wire not connected to the plug anymore and put a connector on it so you can ground it to a frame bolt
now go to the relay area under the seat and find the red relay
you will see a green and a green /white wire
cut the green/white but leave room to splice
take the wire no longer hooked to the relay and dead it it
take the other end and connect a longer peice to it and rout it next to the frame to the white plug and connect it"
Hope that helps.

To tell you the truth I am not 100% on that. What I do know is the post I read was on removing the Reverse Rev Limiter and those were the instructions given. Whether or not it affects the 4wd rev limiter or not I don't know. Sorry I couldn't help you out more.
