Default DS650 New Onwer comments

I was just thinking of some of the first comments new DS650 owners have made in the past. Does anyone remember what you said personally or what someone else said? I went back and read what Razorcat said just a couple of weeks ago and it was really funny.

Razorcat:

"Man I love this machine!!!! Rode for a bit today dispite the 15 F weather, never have I had more fun getting snot frozen to my face! Glad to be in the Bombardier family!"

My fiance Christy: (Used to ride my now sold 1987 Kawasaki Mojave 250)

"I Was really tearin' it up out there!"
"It's great! When I hit the gas it actually GOES!"

Me:

"Ohhhh Yeah! BABY!"

I'm pretty sure I was wearing a big O grin after my first ride....speechless...but the guy knew he'd just sold a quad! Another great moment was pulling up to my neighbors house and seeing the looks on their faces...I don't think they'd ever seen a Bomb before that...a classic moment! Still my greatest thrill was the first time with paddles at the Little Sahara..."dang, this thing hauls azz--and wheelies easy!"

I had the same response from everybody that saw the bomb for the first time, of course I was one of the first to have one in my area but remembering back I think the comment was "that thing looks MEAN".
Personally I hated it at first!
Explaination necessary!!!
I owned a 250R with wide axle and set up suspension before the Bomb. I still regret selling it because it set a handling precident and a power-to-weight ratio that I will never find again.
Back to the Bomb....At first the weight and suspension were overwhelming compared to the 250R and I just wanted to sell it. Instead, I worked on the suspension, gave the engine a little help and just got used to the weight.
I love it now and I will probably never sell it. The great thing is the great suspension, huge power and torque that makes it so easy to ride anywhere and the lack of high maintenance that I had with the 250R.

i remember how i got mine, where i work there were raptors, one banshee, and a 400ex, one of the guys talk me into biking a bike, i was looking at the raptor mostly, the yahama guys were tring to talk me into getting it, but when i went to the shop to get it, at Maxie in OKC, they didnt even ask if i needed help, well i did, i had the money in my pocket and ready to buy, it pissed me off so i left, the yahama guys told me to go to Backer Boys and they are a better group of people to deal with, well before i made it to them i saw the 650 and make up my mind thats the bike for me, i like to be different and no one had it, so it was mine, an other friend told me that they sold them at his boat shop and i went out to see it, i had a friend (the banshee rider) go with me to ride it, i had never rode a quad before and asked him to give it a spin, he said that is was alright, but he perfered his bansee and said that i should them both a try and make up my mind for myself, well my mind was made up with the 650, i went the next day and gave them the cash and had them load it on the trailer, i was affraid of it, when i told everyone at work that i bought it they all said that i had made a big mistake, i took it to work with me and they all gave me hell about it, its to big, its to heavy, its going to be slow, i didnt phase me, the first trip to little sahara with it i didnt have any paddles and out ran the 400s and one of raptors, on a completly stock bike, they still gave me some crap about it cause i could keep up with the to other raptor with paddles and the banshee that has some work done to it, the second time i when out i had paddles and a pipe and the only one to spay me was the bansee, then it was on, the raptor guys couldnt say any thing, even the one that had, a few small mods, it was great to shut them up, with my big, heavy, slow bike, now im working on getting around the bashee

Way back in the day, probably 1997 or 1998, on these forums while they were using a much different, older type of software a user named DarbyCrash started a thread about 'the perfect quad.' I don't recall if the 400EX had been released yet, I think it may have been because I remember thinking the four strokes sounded like a really good idea & that none of them on the market were very impressive. (I had a 1990 LT250R at the time.) Well, the specs I laid out as my ideal were something like this: 600cc Four Stroke, wide & long stance, very stable, with good suspension. When I saw the first magazine article about the DS650 I nearly pooped bricks I was so amazed that everything they were describing this machine to be was almost exactly what I had decided years before to be the ideal perfect ATV. In early 2001, when the piston on my LT250R gave out for the third time (I have NO CLUE what I was doing wrong!) I sold it to a friend, and then began shopping for a new machine, my life has never been the same since!

And now I own a good amount of DS650 stuff: a 2001 DS650, a 2003 DS650 Baja, two of the 1/12th scale models (one at work to remind me what I'm working for & one at home to look at while on my PC,) a DS650 R/C car, the DS650 website, about ten different DS650 email addresses (you can have one too,) a polo shirt with the DS650 website address on it, (this was a great barganing tool when buying my 2003 DS650 Baja! The salespeople started asking me questions about the ATV!) two large DS650 RV size stickers on the back windows of my Trucks, and some DS650 T-Shirts etc.

So, who has more DS650 stuff than I do & where can I get a hold of that stuff so I can add to my collection?

Razorcat,

That is my website, however I don't sell anything; it's a hobby that really hans't progressed that far - I'm not sure I want to eversell stuff since that involves work, which I have plenty of that 9am-6pm weekdays and then some. The models can often be found on eBay here is a link to one of them: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10066
I bought mine at the Sand Sport Super Show they have in Orange County, CA though that is a LITTLE too far for you so I suggest the eBay thing or print out a picture of the one on eBay, bring it to a model shop that sells that same brand of models and see if they have it or can order it.

The stickers are easy to find online, go to http://www.need4stickers.com/ they have all the cool stickers you'll ever need, many which will compliment your trucknutz. They have a 6" DS650 sticker on their quads page, if you want a BIG one go to their RV sized sticker page, you'll find a DS650 there as well, I bought one small and one large one. Even if you never plan to ride using paddles, IMHO the paddle tires look better on the stickers since the knobbies just look like round ***** to me. Oh and take note, be sure to specify the color of sticker you want! Putting a black sticker on the tinted window of your truck or a white sticker on the side of a white RV just wouldn't have much of an effect.

The T-Shirts I'm not exactly sure of anyone who sells them online or regularly. Maybe someone else can help with that, however you might see if Gary from TVI Power and Sports has any - he was handing out some at Four Stroke Wars 2. If you do call Gary, you might find out about some of the cool stuff he has for the DS650, I hear he is a really nice guy that is top notch to deal with, kudos to Gary - we need more people like him.

Gary's website is:
