i was wondering how hard it is to put a snowmobile motor in a banshee? what one fits the best, how much does the motor cost? And what all will i be looking at having to do to the shee to incorporate the new motor and where can i get the stuff to do it with? i would really like to know what i'm gonna spend $$$$$$$.

 

I have a guy In my town who is a Polaris dealer and he put a Polaris 700 2 stroke twin in a shee. The only reason I know is because its on his show room floor![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] If you want I'll look up his number and post it. I've talked to him several times about banshee suff and he's pretty knowlegable. He loves the Banshee so much he carrys parts for them only and he's not even a Yamaha Dealer.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

You could probably do it fairly cheaply, if you are a good fabricator.

I would imagine you could find a decent snowmobile engine for under $1000, then fabricate the mounts for it in the frame.

It would be a pretty involved process, and might not be worth it in the end.

well all of the sheemobiles that i have seen run like you wouldn't believe. stock snomo's put out triple digit hp numbers so if i'm pushin 120+ i'd be as happy as the next guy. my goal is to have a 200hp machine by the time i'm 25 years old. i've got awhile.

 

Keep in mind that a snomo uses a belt driven single speed clutch. Its hard to fine tune a snomo motor because it all depends on how you have the centrifugal clutch setup. You loose a lot of HP through that clutch opposed to a manual tranny. But they can be fast. I know of guy with a 700 too, whats the name of the guy you know? is it bill?

 

i would look into putting a V-max-4 in the shee. reason being its a yamaha machine, its pretty much 2 banshee motors connected together, but without the gears and such. im pretty sure its also a 700, but its a 4 cyclinder. guarenteed it would fly!
