For lot's 'O' mud, better get the 4x4 Scrambler. Push that button and fly out of the mudholes.

My Trailblazer does pretty well in mud but The preditor is more of an mx bike. I would not take that nice of a bike threw the mud. The Scrambler 500 4x4 is great in almost every situation not to mention that there are alot of mods for them.

Hey, I've taken my Pred through the trails and some very deep mud. It's not the most nimble of trail quads because of it's width and the lack of reverse when your stuck in mud kind of rots, but I had a great time. I figured since I didn't have four wheel drive, instead of going through the mud, I'll use the preds power and speed to go over it. LOL. It worked. I love my predator. Good luck with your decision.

my $0.02.
Go with the Scrambler, you will not be sorry. While not quite as quick as the Pred, it is not slow and will keep up with anything on the trails. The first time your 4 wheel drive pulls you out of an otherwise wet and dirty situation you will see what I mean.
Before everyone jumps down my throat for what I just said, keep in mind I said "on the trails", I meant trail riding, not all out racing.
And if you still want to jump down my throat and say the Scrambler won't keep up with a Pred, I would like to race a Pred thru the mud with a Scram 500 4x4.

I owned a 2002 Scrambler before my Predator. I ride down in the mountains in Tennessee. The Scrambler just could not take the pounding of the rocks. I ended up breaking the frame and they totalled it. I bought the Predator hoping it could take it better, so far so good. If I didn't have to contend with the rocks there, I would have bought another Scrambler in a second. I really did love it.

Have a new one to love now, and I do.

If you broke the frame, it's not because the Scrambler was inferior. You subjected it to conditions that were too much for it. Polaris makes the Predator also, do you really think the frame is that different? It's not unbreakable either. I predict you will have some major problems with your predator if you can break a Scrambler frame.
Man, I thought I pounded on my stuff!

First off, I didn't need you to tell me any of that. I'm not one of the teenagers on this forum. If you want to be condescending, do it to someone still in high school. We own five Polaris. I think I am aware they make the Predator. The problems I had were not cause by it being a Polaris. It was caused by the rough terrain coupled with the speed I was driving. It did take 2000 miles to get to that point, but it did happen.

I did not say that the Scrambler was inferior. I think it's a great quad. HOWEVER, it is three hundred pounds heavier and it is built differently from the Predator. It is not a sport quad, and I was trying to make it be one. That's why I bought a Predator. I don't know how the trails are where you ride, but where we go, it is very rocky. So it's either buy a Sportsman and/or drive alot slower, or buy something to handle it. I think option two is what I did.

I predict this machine will handle what I throw at it. I'm real pleased so far.

If you ride a Scrambler like its a sport bike it will break, plain and simple. I've owned a 500 and a 400 and they're a blast when they're running, but they will nickle and dime you to death if they are ridden hard. The Predator looks like a much better built machine than the Scramblers are.

sorry if I sounded condescending. I was just shocked that someone could break the frame on an atv and try a different one to see if it would do better. I just don't see where you're coming from. Sorry to have pissed you off. In rereading my post I guess I did sound like a dink.
