Just picked up my 00' 400ex Yesterday

Sorry I just had to share, I picked up my new quad yesterday and have been fortunate to already have 2 good rides to begin the break in process. Any riders from west-central missouri out there ? I have been riding at Finger Lakes State Park North of Columbia, MO. The 400ex is a great bike and very fun to ride no second thoughts here. GO HONDA !!

Wow, me too!! I just got to ride it around in the field by my house for 3-4 hours, only used about half a tank of gas! Of course, I was keeping it around 1/4 throttle most of the time, breakin in the engine. I absolutely love the machine, no regrets here either!
azrob: I'd heard about the throttle cable problem.. do you tighten it up on the handlebars, or down on the carb somewhere? And how do you know when you have it tightened enough? Thanks

Start by removing the black air intake boot on the back side of the carb. Look into the large hole and the choke will be visible. Beyond the choke, work the thumb throttle and you will see the "slide" moving up and down. At full throttle, the slide should be seated all the way to the top (dissapearing from sight). Take your finger and check for further movement if there is room and
adjust the cable at the thumb throttle till the slide remains at the top position at full throttle. You can bet the ranch that there will be room to raise it on a 2000 model!...probably at least 3\8ths of an inch. Re-install the boot and let her rip.
The difference is unbelievable! I had to practically sit on the gas tank to keep the front end down through every gear!
