One of the changes they made on the 2003 650 compared to the 2002, was a new air filter assembly, changed from a flat surface to oval surface, providing 30% more surface area. The air box assembly itself was also changed to accommodate the new air filter.

Has anyone thought about putting a 2003 box/filter in their 2003 machine? I was thinking this change, along with the Diamond G Racing snorkel would make for a great increase in air flow. What do you think?

 

I was thinking about the same thing, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it yet. I think I'll go on kawasaki's site and get the part numbers needed for the 03' P650 airbox assembly and price them out on ronayers.com. I'll post back with what it will cost to do the swap.

 

Just from looking at the parts diagram on Kawasaki's site I came up with a little list of needed parts. This may be wrong, you may need more or less, but this is just what I was thinking from looking at the picture.

A good bit of the parts weren't listed on ronayers.com for me to get prices.

 

Just the parts you listed come too $27.39. I figure another $50 or so, maybe more with a good aftermarket filter. For less then $100 more, we might be able to have a much better breathing 2002 650.

 

Last I checked of all the parts form the dealer was about $140 bucks.

 

Has anyone done this? Let's figure out what parts we need and upgrade!
